So how many of the kids playing for Cordia are actually from there? Grew up there?

Dominique Hawkins = Darius Miller?
Patriots replied to Triple_Threat's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Do you think Polson was better than Hawkins at this point in their playing career? Hawkins could definitely contribute if Polson can. Dominique would be a much better choice than Willis. -

I'd compare Hawkins more to Shelvin Mack, who proved his worth while at Butler. Dominique has a great attitude and work ethic and will succeed wherever he goes. Alabama watched him play last week, so there is some SEC interest. Also heard Pitino has been talking to him. -
Model senior AJ Hammons hits the game winning shot with 1.4 seconds left. Model's Jon Ballard leads all scorers with 22. Southern's Tyler Abshear finishes with 19.

Great basketball game. Back and forth the entire game. Woodford missed a 3 and a stick back as time expired. Huge win for Model! -
Final from the Shirley Kearns Invitational championship game at Model.

High School State AAU Tournament at KBA
Patriots replied to Patriots's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I was bouncing back and forth, but he can definitely fill it up. He has a nice supporting cast too, which makes him even more dangerous. Hoping to get there to see some of their game with Henry Clay. Be a big test for them. -
Watched some 11th Region teams today at KBA. Dunbar looked really solid against Breathitt Co. Lafayette looks to be one of the better teams in the region with their size and speed, as they beat Harlan Co. Rowan Co. beat LCA 79-71 Middlesboro beat Franklin by 20, but it looked like Franklin was missing some players. Was really surprised with Model, who nearly upset Southwestern before getting beat 58-56. Frankfort, Woodford, Bryan Station, Scott Co., and Henry Clay are also playing tonight at the KBA.

Woodford County 60 Madison Central 55

I was disappointed that Coach Feldhaus did not come out for recognition as region coach of the year, not did 2 of his players that were selected as all-region players. Obviously it was a disappointing loss, but thought he should have shown more class than that. -
Woodford County 51 Lexington Catholic 49 OT

Loved those kids reaction to the win! Great half court man defense by Woodford. They simply wanted it more in my opinion. It was a great high school basketball game. Good luck to the Woodford on Saturday and hopefully Tuesday. -
Madison Southern 72 Model 63

Great game from start to finish! Came down to free throws. Southern shot 42 and Model shot 15. Good luck to Southern as they advance. -
Excellent point- it seems like the draw has worked out the right way over the past 5 years, as you mentioned in an earlier post. It would be nice to see it seeded though. There is rumor of a new high school in Madison Co. coming soon...maybe that will create a seeded district.
-
Is there a reason that the KHSAA doesn't mandate all districts to seed? Seems like it should be consistent throughout the state in my opinion. I think they should all play each other twice, counting both games for seeding purposes. Would Central vote for something like that in the 44th? I'm not sure Feldhaus would want to waste 4 games on Model and Berea.

Cooper 65 Richmond Model 54
Patriots replied to JagParent's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I agree 100% that the blame lies with our coach and players, I wasn't saying that. Not sure where you were seating, but I was behind Model's bench, and heard the one official say "if your team doesn't sit down, you'll all go back to Lexington with a technical", after our players had stood up and clapped for their team. I just thought that was unprofessional and showed a bias. I thought the intentional fouls were a little much at the end, would have been nice to see the teams decide the game. Both teams played very hard and it was a great game other than the end. -

It was ugly, but 6 of the calls you mention were with under 1:00 to play and 5 were called by the same official. Anyone That understands basketball knows that you foul late in the game to stop the clock and try to get the ball back. Yes, it's intentional but you never see it called that way. It was a 3 point game with 1:30 left and they called those fouls. My son plays for Model, and they were clearly frustrated with the officials. But, the same official called 7 of the 9 fouls you mentioned, and yelled at the Model bench throughout the 2nd half, so I can't completely blame our kids and team. Congrats to Cooper- you have a nice team. -
Scrimmages at Rupp Arena on Nov. 25.
Patriots replied to KC 1973's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
So had these scrimmages been sanctioned by the KHSAA, would this be a problem? I know that the KY schools had to write a letter to the KHSAA for approval to play in this event. This event has been going on for years- I remember watching a kid that went to UNC play at Rupp many years ago as a high school player in this event. Seems like poor decision making and timing by a lot of people who don't care at all about kids. -

It's a shame that the dreams of hundreds of kids will be ruined because of 1 potential recruit. Will the regular season events by this company be cancelled at Rupp and the Yum Center? -
Cats' Pause 11th Region Preview

Quan Taylor is no longer in school at Madison Central. I've heard Jeffersontown is where is is going. That will hurt Central inside quite a bit.
