High School State AAU Tournament at KBA

Featured Replies

Watched some 11th Region teams today at KBA.

Dunbar looked really solid against Breathitt Co.

Lafayette looks to be one of the better teams in the region with their size and speed, as they beat Harlan Co.

Rowan Co. beat LCA 79-71

Middlesboro beat Franklin by 20, but it looked like Franklin was missing some players.

Was really surprised with Model, who nearly upset Southwestern before getting beat 58-56.

Frankfort, Woodford, Bryan Station, Scott Co., and Henry Clay are also playing tonight at the KBA.

Did you watch any of the LCA vs Rowan game? Tyler Harville had 35 for LCA. Seventeen at half and 18 in second half. He was hitting some bombs. Rowan played several junk defenses on him. He wasn't able to quite pull it out though.

I was bouncing back and forth, but he can definitely fill it up. He has a nice supporting cast too, which makes him even more dangerous. Hoping to get there to see some of their game with Henry Clay. Be a big test for them.

What has happened to the Derek Smith Shootout, it usually ran the same time as this tourney (KBA state AAU Tourney). Can't find it anywhere. Is it no longer going on. It used to be along w/this one, one of the best.

How has Henry Clay looked in the tournament so far? Also, who has been playing for them? If memory serves me correctly, either Green or Grundy had missed some time this summer (injury?). Also, (again, I could be mistaken on this one) I thought that Fields or Demling had mentioned an up-and-comer that was expected to contribute this year. If anyone could provide more info on who this is and how he has looked so far, it would be much appreciated.

Henry Clay wins State AAU title

Henry Clay High School is expected to be one of the state’s top high school boys’ basketball teams next season. The Blue Devils proved the hype is justified a bit this weekend.Henry Clay High School beat Pleasure Ridge Park 70-60 in the championship game of the State AAU Tournament at KBA in Lexington.

Junior-to-be point guard Christen Cunningham was named MVP. Henry Clay standout Jordan Green missed some of the weekend with an injury.

PRP played without junior-to-be standouts Antonio McDaniels and LaMontrey Harris, who were both sidelined with injuries.

Taywan Taylor and Robert Sawyer, who are both going to be seniors this season, both played solid this weekend for the Panthers.

Congrats to Henry Clay but this proves once again that none of us should take too much stock into summer ball.
