So you are telling me that Colonial Life (South Carolina) arena (seats 18K) could not replace Greensboro this year? If so, why not?

And what happens when regionals have to be held in the same state every year? Logistically it won't work. There aren't enough sites nationwide to accommodate your wishes.

Rule needs to change, plain and simple. Needs to be a level playing field for all. Same state should not be able to host two consecutive years.

The economic benefits for the state should be penalized because you don't like the fact they have built nice arenas in 4 different cities? Sounds like sour grapes...

Disagree. It could be done. Playing field needs to be leveled and preferential treatment has to stop for some select teams. That simple.

Has nothing to do with preferential treatment. The state of North Carolina has 4 high quality facilities that fit the requirements for tournament games. If the state of KY had the same you would tell those complaining to build better venues and catch up...

Sure would.

Sure would.

Nope, wrong again guys. This has to do with one thing and one thing only. MONEY. I don't think it's fair for any team to play in their home state year after year. Even if it were UK. It's plain and simple wrong from an integrity stand point. The NCAA is a prostitute.

Wrong again would imply I was wrong a first time. Good luck with that one... :D

Why wouldn't the venue be important?

Did you just switch sides? RP (and I though you) was/were trying to downplay the importance of venue. Unfortunately for you two Duke fans, Coach K got his boxers in a bunch last time he had to play at Rupp because he didn't like the crowd and didn't think it was fair.

So either say Coach K is a crybaby, or quit trying to paint UK fans as idiots for not being happy about the de facto home games that UNC and Duke get every year in the tourney. You don't get it both ways.

Naw....you just don't understand a word we say. I never once said the venue wasn't important. I just acknowledged that A.) the state of North Carolina has four venues that can host first round games and regionals on a yearly basis. Because Duke and North Carolina are routinely in the top 10 they get the luxury of playing close to home. B.) the last time Coach K played at Rupp was in 2001 in the Sweet 16. Are you not understanding the words as I type them?(in my best Chris Tucker voice). C.) Coach K is a crybaby? Okay. He's a crybaby. Feel better?

Nobody is painting you guys as idiots. Just a bunch of whiny babies. Like Coach K. I just want to know how the process can be changed to suit UK fans. That's the obvious issue. You guys always cry about everything that doesn't benefit you. Should I cry when you have first round games in Nashville, Knoxville, Indianapolis or any of the other cities within a 3 hour drive? Like UK fans won't pack the arena in Hawaii. Don't hate because North Carolina was smart enough to build arenas that accommodate NCAA standards. Maybe UK should go back to playing in Memorial Coliseum and then they can go play in Rupp in round 1 so you whiny babies will quit crying.:cry:

Judging by Coach K's reaction the last time he had to play in Kentucky during the tournament.... :idunno:

refresher...

So what was Duke's advantage in that game?

This. :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

With this pod system, I'm thinking we might see UK & Cincinnati (as an 8 or 9) perhaps paired up again, ala 2005 (in Indy & also had EKU). Maybe even Murray State if they drop down to an 8 or 9? Maybe Murray vs. Cincy with the winner taking on #1 UK?

A) Don't get me mixed up with the people throwing a fit. I'm not. I understand the situation.

B) It was 2002 vs Indiana (c'mon man... know your team!) I understand this mostly happens in the first two rounds, but Coach K being upset about the venue (regardless of the round) shows that venue matters. It is certainly applicable to this discussion. Quit trying to dismiss facts because they don't line up with your argument.

Got it. Cool.

You guys always cry about everything that doesn't benefit you.

Probably. We have issues. We've had to watch the replay of the 92 game constantly for 20 years now. It gets to you. Also, UK does (did? has?) get a little bit of a shaft from the media. When was the last time you saw an article ripping Roy or Coach K? Or accusing them of cheating? Or calling your fans racist? Granted, UK fans take it to extremes, but there is some truth behind it. Hell, even the local beat writer seems to have an anti-UK agenda. Then there was the whole Kanter issue when hasn't made us huge fans of the NCAA.

Don't hate because North Carolina was smart enough to build arenas that accommodate NCAA standards.

That's your answer? The state of North Carolina was "smart enough" to build multiple arenas just to accommodate Duke and UNC in the NCAA tournament? Nothing to do with the fact that NC has double the population of Kentucky?

And since you seem to be confusing me with some other posters, I'll clarify my personal position. I don't think the NCAA needs to change anything about the current locations. It DOES give an advantage to UNC/Duke though, so don't deny it.
