February 29, 201214 yr Maybe because it is a dump... It is. But with the Banks now. That downtown area would be a hot spot, now of course. I just wish we had something here that would work, I'd be there all weekend long.
February 29, 201214 yr In reference UD Arena, who hosts the play-in games, seats 13,400 UD and the City of Dayton have also spent A LOT of money to constantly remodel that facility and have done everything the NCAA has asked of them in order to keep not only the play-in games but the occasional early rounds as well (most recently 2009 and returning again in 2013). It's never been allowed to deteriorate in the way that US Bank or Freedom Hall were. Just last year UD installed high def video replay boards in all four corners of the arena at the request of the NCAA. That arena -- despite some rather odd construction -- is a very nice place to watch a basketball game and will remain that way since UD takes great pride in keeping it up-to-date.

It's a great place to see a game, and a perfect venue for those opening round games.
February 29, 201214 yr I thought the seeding was supposed to try to keep you form having to play teams you already played once.I think that is only in effect for the first two rounds. But wasn't there a second-round game between a couple of Big East teams either in 2010 or 2011?

Two of them in fact. Syracuse was upset by Marquette and Connecticut knocked out Cincinnati on their way to the title.

February 29, 201214 yr That was due to the conference having so many teams in the field though, right? yep. When you have 9 it's impossible to avoid a second round matchup. I don't see 9 this year.
March 1, 201214 yr yep. When you have 9 it's impossible to avoid a second round matchup. I don't see 9 this year. With 9 teams it's impossible to avoid a Sweet Sixteen matchup, not a second round matchup.
