paNDA
For me, I thought Dixie would be unbeatable and they have proven me wrong 10 times, not to mention lose the District Title. Also I did not expect Holy Cross to be a factor and then they rolled up 28 wins only to fail to qualify for the Regional Tourny. It has been a shocker of a season and may be interesting to see what team or players have really made a shocking and unexecped difference this season. Your thoughts? Dawgs28
How about Cooper and Llyod taking down Boone and Dixie in district championships? Very unexpected. 35th again proved its the toughest district in the state.
Qryche11
I thought that Holy Cross would be in the mix for the Regional Crown. Lloyd seems to be coming on as of late but they have shown to be inconsistent. Beechwood suprisingly was not very good. With their size on the block, Nussbaum's experience at guard and Estrella/Vocke/Prewitt I thought they majorly underachieved. Obviously I expected Highlands to win more than 10 games...not be worldbeaters but if they could have gotten stronger PG play early in the season they could have 3-4 more wins and instead of 10-17 going into District Finals be 14-13. Very unexpected. 35th again proved its the toughest district in the state. Wow the toughest district in the state? Thats a pretty bold statement. I understand this board is biased towards Northern Kentucky athletics but seriously there are some districts in the 11th, 6th, and 7th much tougher then the 35th. Voice of Reason
Biggest surprises for me from preseason: - Holy Cross winning 28 - Of course, no one could have expected a 6' 8" D1 recruit to show up after the season started. - Boone County - I expected good but I didn't expect them to finish the season #1 in the coach's poll. - Cooper - A much better season than I expected. - Beechwood - I will just say their record is a shocker and leave it at that. - Lloyd beating Dixie for the district title would have been laughable to most on here in the preseason. - Ryle - Another team with a shockingly poor record. It has been a shocker of a season and may be interesting to see what team or players have really made a shocking and unexecped difference this season. Your thoughts? Unbeatable; no. There are literally a handful of teams that have more than a puncher's chance at the state title this year; and Dixie isn't one of them. A really good team - most of the time. Unbeatable - hardly. And I certainly agree that not coming away with a district crown is a shocker. However, that can be remedied soon.
Voice of Reason
Dixie really misses Zeke Pike. He was a strong inside presence on both ends of the floor, but especially on the defensive end. With Pike, I believe they could have competed for a state title. Without him ... well, we have seen how vulnerable they are.
Dawgs28
I think this is the first year in a number of years where there is no clear cut favorite to win region.

I understand this board is biased towards Northern Kentucky athletics but seriously there are some districts in the 11th, 6th, and 7th much tougher then the 35th. Not saying the 35th is toughest in the state but at one point they had 3 teams in the top 20-25 depending on which set of rankings you look at. That's pretty solid. Bengal Maniac
Bray at Lloyd is a player I never heard of before the season, McDonald at NCC Better than expected for a frosh when he played, Bolden at Holmes giving valuable minutes for Holmes as a frosh. As far as teams I agree with those stated in earlier posts.
statmanhensley
I can't wait for the games to start. I will be doing the clock for the games so if anyone wants to stop by and say hello, please feel free to do so. As for surprises, I would say Cooper and Lloyd as well, but with how the region has been so wide open this season, we should probably expect a couple upsets at the regional as well.
