What do you do if you're Danville? It's tournament time & you really can't afford to take an entire day off.

I agree, it's a no-win situation for either team. I'm not mad at Danville (actually a huge Ads fan) but it really sucks for the KSD kids.

The schedule was made to accommodate KSD. They didn't have school Monday and had kids traveling on Monday and playing on Monday would have been hard on them is how it was explained to me.

 

Danville plays again tomorrow. As I said, I'd be shocked if they didn't get plenty of rest tonight.

It is the same situation that Riverside Christian, Heritage Academy, and in some years Calvary Christian find themselves in.

 

They would prefer to play in a Christian School setting against other Christian schools, however, there are some local schools (Latin, Silver Grove, and each other) that they can compete with. In order to play "outside" teams they must belong to the KHSAA. If you belong to the KHSAA you are assigned to a district within a region, and if Trinity, or in this case Danville, is in your district, come district tournament time you are required to play in the district tournament, and if your district is seeded you are required to play each team within the district at least once. So no, the games should not be played, but yes in order to fulfill the requirements of the KHSAA the games must be played. Ergo the beatdowns. Lose, lose for everybody!!!

I'm not mad at the kids for trying. I just think that adults in the situation need to find a resolution. Games like this prove nothing.

It's time to put this game to rest. It's nothing more than extra gate for the host school.

Yeah, KSD doesn't have to play this game. Boyle's girls won the 6 pm game 81-6. I'd be shocked if Danville varsity even played after halftime. It was 42-6 at one point is the text I got. Why is this game still played? As a courtesy? When was the last time KSD won this game?

 

If that's the case, then it was 39-2 after that point.

In doing my research, I came across 4 years in the 80s when Potter Christian, a local Christian school at the time (and still a children's home), played in the 14th District tournament. The results were horrific. And it was worse in the girls' games. The last year they played, 1987, Potter's girls didn't even cross halfcourt on their first 6 possessions.

 

I understand some want to compete, but it is demoralizing for those kids.

My senior year we gave Warren Central all they

wanted in the district tournament at Diddle arena.

By 1985 the school went down hill and had no

business playing in the KHSAA.

 

If Potter Christian would have had someone in

charge of the school that knew what they were

doing,I believe today that PC would be a strong

competitive private school from Bowling Green.

I believe 1983 may have been Potters third or forth year in existence.We had a pretty good team that year that only had seventeen seniors in the entire school.I think we won about 12 games that year against KHSAA schools.

Like I said if Potter would have had the right leadership I feel they would have been on coarse with schools like Owensboro

The guy who ran the school was the superintendent,principal and head of the children's home.He ran off the first coach that was doing a good job building a small

school program from scratch.My Coach started the same year I did,and was ran off the year after I graduated.A few years later He went on to win the class A state championship in Alabama.

 

So I guess in reality the downward spiral had nothing to do with me,but a knucklehead in charge that ran off some good Coaches.:thumb:
