With a name like Barack HUSSEIN Obama, who wouldn't question his birthplace and religion. After all he was raised in a Muslim country in Indonesia.

That's fine, but I think you still have to admit they have a wide audience and can't be ignored simply because you don't like/agree with them and I'm sure most people here don't find the leftwing loonies who blasted Bush to be the most reputable source either.

 

I agree with that, however I think anyone who tunes in to the likes of Rush, Matthews, Maddow, Olbermann, Palin, Savage, etc. for their political info. are morons.

Laura Bush's approach as First Lady, IMO, was very different from all the others probably in my lifetime. I don't even know Jimmy Carter's wife, but Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton & now Michelle Obama all have had more forceful approaches. They chose/have chosen to use that platform differently than Laura, who always came as very laid back & maybe even a bit passive. And I think that's why she has always been held in high regard by the public.

 

I think Michelle Obama has taken a fairly passive role too. Her initiatives strike me as very similar to Laura Bush's in that they are kind of soft, non-controversial things First Ladies tend to do. I think her personality is quite a bit more public than Laura Bush's, though. I don't know how First Ladies were treated before Clinton.

The USA is a great country, and I wouldn't want to live any where else. But it has its fair share of black eyes over history, and to gloss over that is very sad.

I'm thinking more of a specific comment she made--something about being embarrassed about America or something. I didn't pay much attention to it, but others ran wild with it. I don't recall Laura ever saying anything that was considered remotely controversial. I could be wrong. I kind of see Michelle in the same light as Barbara Bush, as far as their personalities go. A little bit more outspoken than others in their position. And I'm not saying that as a negative; just more as an observation.

Yes we did a lot of bad things, it was before my time though. I love America and love living here, but the politics are tearing us apart.

Fox News is no where close to being fair and balanced. Honestly, anyone who gets their political news from any of the three news stations (CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News) really needs to wake up. All three are incredibly biased and slanted.

All the Bush apologists have are some t shirts and a Hitler reference. Still waiting for proof on how President Bush was treated five times worse than Obama.

 

And besides, while the Hitler stuff is deplorable, it's still coming from so far out in left field that it isn't taken seriously by anyone. The Birthers, on the other hand, that had respected national conservative pundits behind it. I think there's an important distinction to be made between poor hippies with very little sway than national pundits whose audiences are in the tens of millions.
