February 21, 201214 yr How do you explain Santorum's popularity then? The IQ level of voters in this country is slightly higher than a 5 year old's?....:idunno:
February 21, 201214 yr Again, I truly believe the only reason was the comment of pride (or lack thereof before) that she made.Definitely didn't help. I knew what she meant, but she could have worded it a little better. I still feel people would, and have found a lot of other unfounded reasons to criticize her. Most of it in my belief stems from this: Michelle fits the stereotypical and aged white guy viewpoint of an "an angry black woman." Period.
February 21, 201214 yr The IQ level of voters in this country is slightly higher than a 5 year old's?....:idunno:A 5 year old who is heavily influenced by people like Rush and Hannity. It's a fallacy to try and dismiss their popularity within a majority of the GOP.
February 21, 201214 yr I can get you a good room rate, but the rest is up to you. I'm in the business of GENERATING revenue... You haven't seen me gamble then.
February 21, 201214 yr And lots of others are heavily influenced by blowhards like Matthews, Olbermann, and Maddow....Heck the idiots of Minnesota even elected that moron Al Franken to public office. Point being, it's no more influential on the right than the left.
February 21, 201214 yr You haven't seen me gamble then. But if we give you the money you gamble with, it's not generating revenue for us...oh...on paper maybe, but we kinda like the revenue that pays the bills.

Point being, it's no more influential on the right than the left.Where did I say they didn't have influence? I actually like Minnesota's ability to think outside-the-box with their elected officials. At least they don't elect the same Dempublican or Republicrat each term as most states do and most on here advocate that we continue to do (including you I might add)!

February 21, 201214 yr I won't be. You better not become the First Lady. Mountainref will start a thread about you when you go on a vacation.
February 21, 201214 yr On the post topic. I don't think the President or First Ladies' vacation expenses should be entirely without scrutinity. We need checks and balances to make sure the spending is not out of control. One of the problems is that when we have vacation figures they usually include things like SS, use of Air Force One, etc. Those to me are necessary expenses and ones that would happen if the President and their family were on vacation or not. But to entirely dismiss the issue like many are doing seems to be a little too laissez faire for my taste as well. If it is already paid for then who cares? That money is going to be set aside for vacation use regardless. May as well use it. All jobs.......ALL JOBS....come with benefits. I would hope that being the leader of the free world has some pretty good perks and benefits as well.

Point being, it's no more influential on the right than the left. I seriously doubt any of those pundits have anywhere near the daily audience of Rush and Hannity. MSNBC has only lagged in third forever. The best numbers I can find is that each of them pull in about a million daily viewers. And you may not agree with Franken's politics, but to call him a moron is a bit much. He's only one of the greatest comedy writers of all-time.

I think it's more of his comedy style that helps sway opinion about him.

And saying he's a great comedy writer only tells me you have less than stellar comdeic tastes.

And saying he's a great comedy writer only tells me you have less than stellar comdeic tastes. Until his foray into politics, he was one of the lead writers on SNL since its inception. Guess you've never watched SNL? Didn't find any of the Belushi, Akroyd, Murray skits funny? It would then be your comedic tastes that would have to come into question. Just because somebody's smart doesn't mean they make a good politician (COUGH … Newt Gingrich).

Just because somebody's smart doesn't mean they make a good politician (COUGH … Newt Gingrich). SNL hasn't been funny in a very very long time, and Akroyd and Belushi are vastly overrated. I lump Newt Gingrich into the moron category as well, so you'll get no argument from me there.
