I don't think anyone is denying that wild things were said about Bush, but it seems you are just as guilty of ignoring some of the wild things said about Obama as you claim others are about Bush. And the monkey thing has racial connotations that exist with Obama and not for Bush (for obvious reasons).

President Bush was openly called a racist.

 

President Bush was called a murderer.

 

President Bush was called an idiot, he was depicted as a monkey as well.

 

People claimed President Bush let the 9/11 attacks happen as an excuse to go into Iraq.

 

He was called a terrorist.

 

He was said to have staged 9/11.

 

All those are were leveled against him as President.

 

Sorry, but being called a terrorist, having people claim you "staged" a national tragedy for political gain, and being called a murderer are far far worse than any of the claims made about President Obama.

All of it is unwarranted on towards both men (and Mrs. Obama - again, I don't remember any ire for Mrs. Bush). Certainly, President Bush did not have it five times worse than President Bush

I don't even know where to look. And the point is that you don't even realize that the media is feeding you the info about Michelle Obama, but not about others. When the President's wife walks the dog it makes news. Meanwhile others in Congress (and their wives/husbands) are doing the same things to no fanfare.

 

The media being one major station out of six that reports it. Where is the balance?

Any vacation by a politician that is paid for by taxpayers I disagree with. Any more politicians are already rich, they should foot the entire bill, then see how much they vacation, especially at the places they go to on the free bill.

I think I'm with you on some of this. As I stated earlier, the hatred IMO has been pretty equal as far as Bush & Obama go. Whether the source of the hatred is based on race, religion, ideology or whatever, hatred is hatred in my book. These two men have received their fair share of both. I don't think one has received a greater amount than the other.

Obama has been called a terrorist and a racist, repeatedly, by fairly prominent conservatives (Limbaugh, Palin, etc.). Many others have claimed he is a radical Muslim who is illegitimately president and plans to destroy the United States from the inside or otherwise hopes to see his Muslim terrorists friends "win." Again, by fairly prominent conservatives (Gingrich, D'Souza, etc.). I find that to be fairly off the reservation and a little different than simply "questioning their religion," which is a little much as it is.

As far as the comments towards the First Lady, while I don't agree or condone any of them, I think one can reasonably understand the difference between Michelle Obama and Laura Bush. I can't recall Mrs. Bush ever making some of the comments that Mrs. Obama has made. I think many have completely went overboard about most of them, but she has had a few "foot in mouth" moments. (I'm not saying President Bush's wife didn't, I simply can't recall any.)

Laura Bush's approach as First Lady, IMO, was very different from all the others probably in my lifetime. I don't even know Jimmy Carter's wife, but Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton & now Michelle Obama all have had more forceful approaches. They chose/have chosen to use that platform differently than Laura, who always came across as very laid back & maybe even a bit passive. And I think that's why she has always been held in high regard by the public.

That's fine, but I think you still have to admit they have a wide audience and can't be ignored simply because you don't like/agree with them and I'm sure most people here don't find the leftwing loonies who blasted Bush to be the most reputable source either.
