Airlines, hotels, and gas stations do not agree that most cannot afford a vacation.

Did not realize that the airline industry was doing real well.

My sister and brother -in-law seemingly go to Florida every other month and I could care less ,same as I could care less where and when the Obama's take their vacations or Bush for that matter . Mountain Ref you need to take a vacation or at least get a life and worry about yourself rather than the Obamas . I bet you are very hyper-tensive .

I would think that has much more to do with across-the-board cutbacks on the number of flights offered than it does to increases in the number of people flying.

I will take your word for it, as I have not been involved in the airline industry for many years. I was actually referring to actual profits, which I guess would not necessarily be connected to full or empty seats.

Good point Jim. As a former Delta employee, I spoke with a former colleage recently that informed me that Delta has drastically cut back their operations/flights the last 10-15 years.

No I don't have proof, only the hundreds of people I talk to weekly say they can't afford to travel on vacations. These people are factory workers, school teachers, private business owners, etc.

The reason no one really cares is because no one really knows, I bet if you ask 100 people on the street where Michelle (I'm proud of America now) Obama is on vacation they wouldn't know. I am sure no one cared about Watergate until it was uncovered.

I can't imagine what I or anybody else who was severely harsh on Dubya could possibly have said that was anywhere near as extreme as calling Obama a simian.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree about that. While they were both the targets of some pretty crazy attacks and insults, to say that Obama has gotten off light in comparison would require you to ignore a prodigious amount of rhetoric. I would say that is true in not only content, but volume and intensity as well. While the anti-war protesters were quite loud, I don't think they match the near-riots at the health care town hall discussions or the breadth and strength of the Tea Party. And while there were quite a few people who believed Bush was invading Iraq for his own personal oil profit, there are an equally prevalent number of people who believe Obama is an illegitimate Muslim Kenyan who is actively attempting to destroy the United States so it can be recreated as a socialist empire.

 

As to my original observation, I still don't understand the Michelle Obama hatred. Especially the go-to insult of calling her fat and ugly. It's obsessive with some people.

That and having the Gov of AZ pointing her finger in his face, Joe Wilson heckling screaming out you lie during the state of the union, there hasn't been a President that has not been more disrespected then President Obama.

Hmmm...I'm a school teacher. I took a vacation last summer, one at Christmas and will take one again this summer. My brother works in a steel mill. He and his family (three kids and wife) went to San Diego last year for vacation. They aren't taking a vacation this summer, as my sister-in-law is due with their 4th child at the end of July.

Nearly all of my teacher co-workers take one or more vacations. Most of my other friends (including Facebook friends) talk about and post photos of vacations. This includes business owners and factory workers.
