That's fine...then only the district champion advances to the regional. That way, each district is sending it's "best".

Think of the gate $$$ that the 10th loses if Pendleton County doesn't make it. They have as good a following as anyone in the 10th.

That's why the games are not based on gate proceeds, it is suppose to be for the best teams to shine, not money generating ability. If it's going to be about generating money, lets just have a bake sale to end the season.

So would you vote blind draw, if only one team went to the Region from each district?

Wasn't stating that as rationale for my support of seeding. Just stating that the gate will be negatively effected if Pendleton doesn't make it.

The 39th is one of those districts that still have the blind draw. With three real small schools (Augusta, Bracken and St. Patrick) and one medium-size school (Mason County), here's my guess as to why the district stays with the draw.

 

The first three schools want a 2 out of 3 chance to avoid drawing the short blue straw, and the fourth school doesn't care one way or the other.

 

I think Mason County is opposed to seeding as well, because they don't want to be forced to play the other three class A schools at least once every year. At least, that's what I have been told.

Yep that's a great idea! :scared: First the KHSAA will start with just two state titles but then some school that was the last school not in the "A" class will cry that they were being treated unfairly and they should have been moved into the "A" class. So then we will have three division, then four and then five oh well why not just have six like Football. What a mess!

 

Sorry what Kentucky has had since 1918 is the best HS tourney in the nation, year after year after year and how do I know that it's the best? The crowds at Rupp who come in groves to witness the tourney year after year after year!

Seed it for the best regional. Sorry but the regional should not be a fundraiser for the smaller schools.

They usually play St. Patrick and Bracken County most years anyway. The last few years they've had Deming on their schedule, why not play Augusta instead? It makes zero sense for Augusta, Bracken, and St. Pat to vote for a draw. Often times the better team of those three in a given year draws the short stick. Those three teams play each other many times during the season anyway. Why not make them count and seed it.

The thing that gets me is that it seems that schools "like" this philosophy (2 out of 3 chance to avoid the #1 team) because they EXPECT to be bad. Instead of looking at it that WHEN WE ARE ACTUALLY GOOD, we'd still have a 1 in 3 chance of going home before the championship game. If you set a goal of being a good team at the end of the season (and let's face it, who doesn't want to be that)....why in the world would you want your postseason matchup to be determined by luck?

 

I don't disagree with what you're saying. I'm all for expecting to improve and not expecting to simply "hope" to make it to the regional tournament. I'm just saying that the 39th is like very few other districts - certainly like none of the others in the 10th region. 37th has Brossart, Campbell and Scott that perenially fight it out; 38th has two schools of relatively similar size in Harrison and Pendleton; and the 40th has Clark and Montgomery - two of the largest schools in the region - and they're probably not going to vote for a blind draw in our lifetimes.

I'm guessing that we're in the minority here, but that has been my thinking for years and years.

I am for a state wide seeding requirement.

Who will get the 40th's top seed this season? I honestly don't know.

It is a coin toss I believe.
