But seriously, when was the last time one of these three (other than Newport in 2010) won a game in the 9th Region tourney???? Went on KHSSA website back to 1999.......Zip. Sorry if I offend anyone, but I call it how I see it.

 

Newport had last won a regional game in 1993 prior to their 2010 run. Bellevue last won one in 1976. Dayton last did in 1959.

You misunderstand me and I mis typed what I was trying to say they don't want blind draws is what I meant to say. I am saying all this fuss about the A schools not wanting seeding is crazy. Walton, Gallatin and Owen are year in and year out the best teams in their districts they do not want seeding. I am telling the BGPers it is not the A schools only that want blind draws. These Schools want seeding, I am saying don't blame it on all the A schools only the ones who can't compete.

 

Obviously, there are exceptions. But I'd be willing to bet that if we were to examine the seed v. draw voting results in each of the regions, the overwhelming majority of schools voting for the draw are going to be the smaller schools.

^ Sounds like the 39th and the 44th are very similar in terms of the sizes of the four schools. It stands to reason that every once in a while one of the three small schools is going to have a competitive team.

Yes when is the draw for the 36th district? I believe this is at Dayton this year. Is that correct?

 

I heard first week of Feb and that is where we are so very soon. The District will be at Dayton this year and at Highlands next season.

Probably no big surprise that most of those small school teams that do vote for seeding also have a history of success against their larger opponents, such as Hazard, Paintsville and Bardstown, among others. My alma mater, Gallatin Co., was mentioned above interestingly enough, and I don't think it should be a big surprise that since becoming a quality program they abandoned their "let's hope we draw Trimble Co." ways from the old days when GC and TC were in district with Carroll Co. and pre-split Oldham Co., both of whom were very good then.

 

I would also suggest that any larger schools who vote to draw are likely programs without a great deal of success, historically.
