January 30, 201214 yr Author I guarantee you there's never been an all-time movie list with "Goonies" on it. Well, evidently there's a first time for everything. Or maybe PP was just checking to see if we were paying attention. The one thing I could never get past with "The Goonies" is that the sound quality may be worse than if they had used a hand-held VCR. I grew up on this movie and still watch it eagerly whenever it may happen to come on. It made me a fan of Cindi Lauper.

January 30, 201214 yr I will approach this a little differently as it is too hard to narrow it down to 5. Quite a few of my favorites are listed above but here are my top movies not already listed above: Rob Roy - definitely in my top 5 all time. Groundhog Day - I can watch this movie over and over and over ... :lol: Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi - Episode IV is great but they could not have brought the story full circle any better than they did in this movie. The Matrix - Sci-fi is probably my favorite genre. Apocalypse Now - The psychology of war and how it impacts people - great movie. Planes, Trains and Automobiles - I like a lot of John Candy movies, but none tops him as Del Griffith. To Kill a Mockingbird - Gregory Peck is one of my favorite "old movie" actors and this is a great book and movie.

January 30, 201214 yr Dr. Strangelove would be one of the next in line for my list. Never honestly got the hype about Dog Day Afternoon, though. It's the first Pacino movie I ever bothered to sit down and watch, so it's kind of a sentimental favorite I would say. It opened the door for me to appreciate all of the others. And there's something about movies that have one primary setting that I am drawn towards.

It's on my list of movies to watch, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I don't typically enjoy watching movie with subtitles, but I've heard such great things about this one that I am willing to make an exception.
