Philip Hay Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 The first Litkenhouse ratings are out for this year. See this link. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051228/SPORTS05/51228007/1031
colonel-fan Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Intresting to see CovCath that high, but after the O Cath score is factored in the Colonels will be on the way down. Nice to see three Covington teams in the top 20.

Nice to see three Covington teams in the top 20. LOL, all 3 are top 3 in the 9th region, with all 4 35th district teams cracking the top 10 in the 9th region.
MountainThunder Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 This should make for some interesting conversation between those who really have been unsure who was #2 in the 13th. REGION 13 1.South Laurel 101.6 2.North Laurel 74.7 3.Barbourville 72.7 4.Corbin 72.2 5.Cawood 69.2 6.Clay County 68.5 7.Harlan 68.2 8.Bell County 67.1 9.Pineville 63.5 10.Jackson County 62.3
HHSDad Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 11th region has 6 teams in the top 20! What I can't figure out is how can Ballard be ranked #10, unless this was calculated before their losses to PRP, John Hardin and Holmes.
BIGZIG Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 This system has never made a bit of sense IMO. CovCath number 2, come on. Holmes is still definitely a Top 10 team and Holy Cross is definitely not a Top 20 team. They have a nice team, maybe top 40 or so but no where near a Top 20 team.

As with any computer ranking published this early you have to remember a couple of things. 1. Teams are assigned a number to start with. Usually based on last year or on how well they are expected to improve or de-prove from last year. 2. Out of state games do not count. 3. One game can effect your ranking greatly. A win by a decent team over a highly rated team (whether the highly rated team is really any good or not) can zoom the decent team high up in the rankings.
The Professor Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Mr. Litkenhouse is really on the ball!!! Talk about keeping things up to date. He has Letcher Central rated # 11 in the 14th region. Whitesburg is 14th. Fleming Neon is 18th. The only problem is that Letcher High, Whitesburg, and Fleming Neon all consolated last year to form Letcher County Central. These schools no longer exist. It's little wonder that I put more merit into the Cantrall Ratngs than I do Litkenhouse.

dubbbledribbble Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Virgie should be rated higher in the 15th. Meade Memorial, Flat Gap, and Oil Springs should be up there as well!! Nice job L-House...way to do your homework, this makes your picks really reliable the rest of the year!!!
The JollyPirate Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 ER #1 in the 15th?? Paintsville #6 and Lawrence Co. #12, I thought I was reading the girls ratings at first.
