If Iowa's population is 2.8% black and 9% of welfare recipients there are black, doesn't he have a point about helping them by working to increase employment? It sure seems from those stats that the blacks in Iowa are being much harder hit by the economy. What am I missing?

I'm with him on social issues, but he's far from bring anything remotely close to a fiscal conservative.

You are missing the 91% of welfare recipients who aren't black. Start at that.

What has he done for the traditionally black schools? I'm interested in hearing that and wondering why his campaign manager isn't making this more publicly known. I'd be all over this. He should call me.

Seems like in one of the threads on GOP candidates there were a bunch of off the wall statements he had made.

Or maybe, just maybe they have more of a clue then you give them credit for and they realize that doing that gives us 4 more years of Obama's policies. With Obama being a lame duck and not having to worry about paying lip service to governing from the middle a second term really gives him a chance to do irreparable damage to this country.

 

I believe what you say here is why Romney will be the next president. He will get a good share of the independent vote, and he will get the conservative vote when it comes time to cast the November vote. I just don't agree with those that have posted that evangelicals/conservatives won't vote for him. Yes, many conservatives aren't crazy about him, but the thought of four more years of Obama will be enough to get them to the polls to vote GOP.

I believe Romney will sweep the South, hold on to the states that voted for McCain in '08, and take Ohio and Indiana back, maybe even a few other midwestern states. It's also possible he will win some of the western states that the GOP lost the last time, such as Nevada and Colorado.

 

It's all about the electoral college, and although I think it will be close, I believe Romney will be in good shape come November.

I just find Mormonism to be very cultish, more so than most organized religions. Not something I want in the POTUS.

 

I will admit, if Romney was a firm believer in libertarian ideas I could probably cast it aside though.

 

I understand your concerns with Mormonism, but I am curious as to why you would use those beliefs to prevent you from supporting a candidate. Is it simply because you wouldn't support someone that has those beliefs or that you would expect those beliefs to show up in policies brought forth by that candidate?

Which makes it more puzzling why he would single out blacks when making his stance against welfare.

FWIW, I am off the Romney bandwagon after his comments in Iowa about the Dream Act. The Dream Act is not a litmus test for me, but it is a big factor in my decision making.
