February 13, 201214 yr I think the hype is because Lin is playing in NY but Lin being Asian definitely adds to the hype and plays a part in the hype.

Black players do what he does every night but don't get the same praise. Is he wrong about the first part? I think the hype is mostly deserved but some of it is because he is Asian. The second part is just stupid. Tons of black players get hype.

It reminded me of Dennis Rodman and then Isiah Thomas saying if Larry Bird was black he'd be just another player. :lol: I do think if a black player was doing what Lin has done so far that he wouldn't be receiving the 30 minutes of Sportscenter everyday so I guess I somewhat agree. They even made exuses for his 'subpar' play against Rubio on Saturday.

February 15, 201214 yr I want to like the kid but the hype is killing me. Great great story. If Hollywood made a movie about an Asian American who went to Harvard and went undrafted in the NBA who finally gets a chance and breaks scoring records in his first five starts......nobody would go watch it. Unfortunately since it is happening in real life we have to watch over and over again. Much like Tebow...he still hasn't defeated a great team or played against a great guard. No, I am not including Deron Williams sleepwalking through this season with the hapless Nets. It is a great story but as of yet....I am not sold. I reserve the right to change my mind once he builds his portfolio.
