I call bologna on some of the stuff in this thread. Why not admit that there are problems that need to be corrected instead of acting like there are no problems other than parents complaining about playing time or coaching strategy and 95% of the complaints are about playing time or position. That is bologna. Coach Warner knows what needs to change and hopefully, it will change. I do wish them the best of luck. As I said before, I do believe there are a lot of good players, good parents and good coaches at Ryle. I will not write specific problems or incidents down in a public forum.

Don't castigate people for defending their program and denying problems when you refuse to bring the supposed problems you know about to light. It's obvious that a couple of the HHS posters in this thread have a real axe to grind with Coach Warner. Are you really that bitter over suffering one loss? There is no question that Ryle has intensified thier program the last few years and maybe some players or parents don't like that intensity level, that doesn't mean their is a problem. It doesn't mean their isn't a problem either but unless you or others HHS posters in this thread point out what they are then your statements don't pass the transparency test.

We agree to disagree. You do not air dirty laundry in a public forum. You tell the person in charge in a private setting. The myriad of problems and incidents have been taken by me to the horses' mouth, the decision-maker, the head coach. It's up to Coach Warner to take the steps to correct problems. He is an intelligent man and has acknowledged that he is aware of changes that need to be made. Indeed, I hope they will be made to complement the good things that Bryson has implemented at Ryle. I'm an optimist. I look for the negative things to change and I will not spell them out in a public forum.

This has nothing to do with Highlands. The people in Union that are upset have no cares about Highlands.

 

If I were a coach at Ryle I'd quit hanging my hat on the Highlands win when it comes to the state of the program.

I'd agree with the 2nd point, but a quick read of the thread and you'll find that about 90% of the negative comments about Ryle's staff is coming from HHS fans. Why is that?

 

Do you know of any incidents that parents should be concerned with? I know 2 years ago Ryle beat a very good HHS team and played an even better Trinity team closer than anyone had all year. Then this year won 7 games including a playoff game or two all while losing a ton of kids to injury including a Mr. Football candidate. I don't know what there is to be upset about, maybe there are legit concerns but from a results standpoint I don't see it and since no one is willing to address their concerns then it seems like a witch hunt to me.

Parents ruin high school sports - many times they are the ones who have an issue, not the player. These young men need to learn to address the coaches themselves as it will be expected in the classroom and on the field at the next level, as well as a future job. Mommy and daddy can always be their protectors. The only time parents should get involved in high school sports is when the safety or well being of the student/athlete is at risk. Otherwise, stay in the stands and enjoy watching your child play. And kudos to Demler or any AD that backs their coaches - its a thankless job.

So you are suggesting that Ryle's staff is going overboard to the point of border line physical abuse and withholding water from kids? If so I don't like it and they should be fired. Are we sure this is going on, do we have examples or could it be some kids just don't like the hard work and tell their parents a distorted version of the truth?

What a thread! First I would like to personally wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year! I see there is some concern about our program but if you talk to the former players, present players and future players you will see they are not very concerned. We run a very tough and disciplined program- which we feel is extremely effective. A lot of the players appreciate this and most importantly want this as part of our program. We as coaches do our very best to be role models and teach our young men life through football. It is tough to be a part of our program and there has been success but we are striving for more. We feel we have an excellent staff and administration that can take us to the level we and everyone else expects. We have a solid foundation for the future but we also feel our program needs an update. There have been two programs both within 8 miles that are very successful and have pulled some of our numbers. That is great because it gives more young men an opportunity to play this great game and they are both very good programs. Our coaching style has also pulled some numbers which is where we want to improve. This process has already taken place and is working. The open house is to allow more people the opportunity to see firsthand what we are trying to accomplish and buy into our program. The Union Raiders has been an amazing success and to be able to establish these relationships at such an earlier age has been awesome. We do understand the concerns and have always listened- this is how we get better. High school football is about adding to these young men's lives to take on life's challenges and we have accomplished this in many ways. We are looking for more. Please do not hesitate to contact me or anyone on our staff- we have always had an open door policy and some of you have some great ideas. BTW, ask any official out there in the competition with the players- they can tell you what kind of program any school has. We hope to see some of you at the open house- I will be there. lol! A coach quit the staff. It wasn't because he was unhappy with a certain kid's playing time or the ineffectiveness of the passing game.

We have never put any of our young men in an unsafe situation. Safety is our number one concern. Parents over the years have attended most of our practices as we have never denied access to any of our practices to anyone.

A key to success for any organization is constant evaluation of what you're doing versus the results you're getting. Sounds like Ryle is doing that and I would expect them to bounce back next year and continue moving forward.

Well done!! I love it when the rumors and innuendo get addressed openly. I believe perhaps the biggest asset for any coach is open communication. Great example of it coming from Ryle. I only hope anyone who has a concern or issue shows up at the open house and speaks up.
