Two very good teams. Good luck to both.

Your post (#2) said that "their tank may have been close to empty" because of their schedule. Isn't that the same thing as saying WV was tired? I'm sure they were tired but again it's not uncommon to play 3 games in 4 days. Owen won because they were prepared, executed better and out played Walton. This loss is not the end of Walton's season and I'm sure they will rebound from it. Don't be surprised if we see these two teams in the All A Finals.

Great win for Owen. Looking forward to the next Owen-WV match up. There's probably a few weeks before the next WV-Owen matchup, so that should give WV enough time to come up with some more excuses for their loss to Owen.

Exactly. Maybe they should take the whole week off before that game so their tank is full.

Both teams played good defense. WV had opportunities that they didn't finish. Quite making excuses for them, the girls know are ones who know where they fell short and why.

Do Ryle, Boone, NDA, etc. fans and parents whine about the transfers that have taken place 4 and 5 years ago? Please......if you want to know the scoop instead of speculating and constantly hashing it out on here, ask a parent at the next game you see them at.

Better hope that WV doesn't have a whole week off. It could end up like last year!

I fail to see where WV made any excuses for their loss to Owen. At least, I don't think any players or coaches posted.

There is a difference between being physically tired and emotionally spent. The latter was what I was referring to. You posted they looked like they didn't come to play. Just trying to throw out a reason for this, since Owen should be a game they should be up for.

One stat I haven't heard mentioned that I thought was interesting is Gayheart's double double. As a point guard she grabs 10 rebounds against a team with some quality bigs. I haven't seen all the stats at this point but I would think she had to be close to leading rebounder in the game. That stat made a big difference in the game.
Congrats to Gayheart on dominating the game.:notworthy: She controlled the game on both ends.

Sandlin has been in the Walton school system since 7th grade, I would not consider her a transfer.

Congrats to Owen on a good win. BOTH of these teams are strong and will do just fine in their seasons.

When was the first year Sandlin started playing for WV

I believe August 2007 is when she entered the 7th grade at Walton.

But, where did she go to kindergarten????? This is getting a little silly. Owen Co. was a better team that night. Luckily, we have a full season to see who ends up being the top dog of the 8th.

Your point is well taken, LD. Still, if a pattern ever develops that seems to circumvent the spirit or intent of the KHSAA by-laws that only go far enough to pertain to grades 9-12, it doesn't take a Philadelphia lawyer to speculate what may be occuring. This not a unique thing but one that most likely happens across our state - and other states with similar rules - at various times. No matter what you say or how you paint it, milk from another farmer's cow is still milk other than your own, so the farmer who only drinks from his own cow is "udderly" at a disadvantage.

I understand what you are saying, but there is no way to really regulate. If I was a parent, and a coach was trying to recruit my child, what makes me think they won't recruit over them? Obviously, loyalty is not a big thing to those people. Its sad that the 8th is pretty strong again, and this is the topic. Just my two cents...

Could this thread get any farther off target......Congrats Owen Cty, nice win.
