I have no doubt that not only will LexCath show up, they'll play extremely hard.

here is a view of the whole stadium from the press box. In 2010 they did a $2 million renovation which put new turf in and added more visitor seating, but most of the renovation was for baseball and more storage.

About 3 of the linemen will play both ways but will rotate or only play on short yardage on defense. Casey Nash will plays both wide-out and corner. But otherwise most players are one-sided. So fatigue should not be a factor.

WOW, we better get on to something juicy in these posts. Beechwood and Mayfield are doubling us to date on posts. Heck HC and Somerset are right on our tails. Lets hear from some of the LC fans on their team. Go Birds.

 

You wont find much trash-talking out the LexCath side this week - on the forums or on the street. There is a lot of respect for HHS, players and coaches. Friday nights win against the arch-rival Rebels and first region Championship in 4 years was a great step forward for Coach Letton and the players but reward is a meeting with the best of the best. Everyone knew that the road to Bowling Green would go almost certainly go through the Birds if we got that far. We did and it does. The echos of last Friday's game are gone and now its back to business. There is confidence this week, the players believe they can win and are working on things with focus.

 

Here are some insights from LexCath season to gnaw on during Turkey day:

 

- Could have beaten John Hardin. Some funny calls at key times made some differences there.

- Defense has been much better then expected all season. It has not given up the big plays this year. Leading tacklers are Alex Nash (Jr.), Josh Mesmer (So.), and Jordon Artip (Sr.).

- All the leading tacklers are LBs in the 3 - 5 defense scheme. This team has played the 3-5 since they were in middle school and it is first nature to them. They are not converted 4-3'ers. So they believe in this defensive scheme and play it well. They only talk in terms of Mike, Buck, Will, Rover, etc. The defense wheres arm bands for plays with as many 'plays' as the offense.

- Offensively, the Bolin/Bush combo goes back to middle school days. Those two have an uncanny connection on the field.

- The offense has struggled most of the later part of the season. But this is similar to last year until it came alive for the Regional Final at Boyle County and made what was supposed to be blowout a very close game that went down to the last play.

- Injuries not been factor overall and all should be available for Friday. Nick Nash (brother to Casey and Alex) was lost early in the season with a recurring shoulder injury. Some linemen have missed a game or 2 but no serious or long term injuries this year.

- Teams that passed for 200 yard or better (JH, Lafayette and BG) are 2-1 against the Knights. Teams there were run-dominant were 0-10 against the Knights this season.

- HHS and LexCath look very similar offensively in the middle of the field both using the spread offense to free up the passing lanes. HHS seems to like to switch to power running mode inside the 15 or 20. LexCath will stay with spread.

- Bill Letton has done a great job this year. He was very deserving of coach of the year in the district.

 

But is no one going to talk about the QBs? Future Wildcat vs. future Card? This probably deserves its own thread. There will be a lot of blue at Joseph K Ford Stadium Friday but many on the home side will have some red tucked underneath.

I love the last line. We will truly see greatness on both sides of the offense Friday. Why not create an extra thread about it.?

Sounds great. I certainly wouldnt expect a program like LC to have many guys playing both ways. But you dont sound real sure about the second part of your comments. This is exactly what happened to CovCath last week imo. Nevertheless, I am sure LC will give it 110% to the end as will Highlands. Should be a great game:thumb:

These teams didn't get this far without being good , and well coached. Both teams will have to play flawless football , minimizing the dropped passes , and poor special teams play .The Highlands D has been terrific the past 3 games in the playoffs. Both teams have very few , if any , players playing both ways , so no advantage to either team , IMO. Like sweep said , should be a great game and whomever makes the least mistakes win. I'm sure both teams will do nothing less than leave it all on the field. I hope ther is no injuries to either team. GO Birds !!!!

 

Some turkey cheer :

 

A young man named John recieved a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the birds mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the birds attitude by consistently saying only polite words , playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the birds vocabulary. Finally , John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot.The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. John , in desperation , threw up his hand , grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Feering that he'd hurt the parrot , John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arm and said " I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior". John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As John was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior , the bird continued " may I ask what the turkey did ? "

I think this is closer than what people think! I will take HHS by 10 but this could go the other way. I am only going by the fact that they both played Boyle. HHS won 35-14 first game of the season & Lec. Cath. won 20-13 in regular season & 10-7 last week. Good luck to both.

HHS has improved immensly since the first week of the season. I doubt that LexCath has improved very much since just last week.

Your right, but maybe Boyle improved immensly since the first week of the season also, in turn, giving Lex Cath a tough time. Any way it's spun, I'm sure Catholic will be in awe of the Bluebirds friday night.
