January 9, 201214 yr JS made valid points though. None of which you wil hear from the Pitt. organization
January 9, 201214 yr JS made valid points though. Every team in the NFL deals with injuries it part of the game. The Steelers may have been more banged up but it's a weak excuse.
January 9, 201214 yr JS made valid points though. What? That the Steelers had injuries? No kidding. What team doesn't at this time of year?
January 9, 201214 yr I'm not for sure if this is how Schue meant it, but I took it as more of a "hey, Tebow didn't beat the Steel Curtain" than an excuse for the Steelers. Which as PP92 said, there were many valid points.
January 9, 201214 yr All other fans have "excuses" while Steeler fans have "valid points".As I said, I didn't take that as excuses to why the Steelers lost...
January 9, 201214 yr   Sorry about your luck Jim. Yep, because Denver wasn't missing the leader of their defense. Their #1 WR didn't go out early in the 1st half. They weren't missing a starting OL guy either....Oh wait.
January 9, 201214 yr We still don't know if they would have scored though. Denver could have done a few other things besides score. it was a bad call and the replay rules need to be looked at to fix it but it isn't a guarantee that Denver would have scored. This is a non issue to me. For me, it's not so much what Denver would have done, but that Pittsburgh marched it right down the field after that call & got to within a score. If Denver gets the ball right there, I think the game changes dramatically--and not in Pittsburgh's favor.
January 9, 201214 yr The Broncos play with a receiving core made up of #1 Eric Decker (went out with injury), under performing for his career Eddie Royal, Demayrius Thomas, and some guy named Matthew Willis. None of these guys would start for the Steelers. At RB they have a journeyman in McGahee and Lance Ball. Scary. On defense their leader, Brian Dawkins, did not play. I believe both Safeties were rookies. Vonn Miller with one hand. Point being both sides are banged up. Still stacking things up, the advantage went with the Steelers if we are strictly talking about personnel. Exactly :thumb:
January 9, 201214 yr ^Yep....Let's even assume, for PP92's sake, that Denver doesn't score (although there was a 99% chance they at least added 3). They take roughly 2-3 minutes off the clock. That in and of itself is a huge shift.

That in and of itself is a huge shift. And the lead either climbs by three or stays where it is. Whichever, it doesn't get reduced to a touchdown.
January 9, 201214 yr All other fans have "excuses" while Steeler fans have "valid points". Nope. Simply pointing out that a one legged Roethlisberger, no Mendenhall, Clark or Pouncey makes this a different Steeler team. Did they overcome it? No? Did it make a difference in the game? Absolutely. Valid points. If Darius Miller gets hurt in March and can't play in the tourney then it is a valid point that it isn't the same UK team.

That in and of itself is a huge shift. None of that is guaranteed. They could have thrown a pick 6 on the first play taking off a total of 25 seconds. All of that is as guaranteed as an 80 yard Tebow pass in OT to win it. Nobody knows what would have happened AND Denver still failed to stop Pitt on that drive. They had 87 yards to do so on that drive.

They had 87 yards to do so on that drive. They also could have scored on the first play, ala how they did in OT. I'm just saying that would have been a HUGE swing in momentum had the call went Denver's way, which it should have. Pittsburgh is fortunate the referee blew his whistle, thus making the play unreviewable.
