BRING IT! While I'm only a casual poster compared to what I used to be, a gaming forum would bring me back in the mix :lol:

I don't think you can really count the high school sports forums as that is what this site is truly about and I'm sure those will always be here. But I definitely see it getting more than:

 

Auto Racing

Other College Sports (kind of a necessity since Football/Basketball are separated)

New Member Introduction (again a necessity)

College Recruiting (this seems to get discussed in the CBB forum)

 

Most likely it gets more than these two as well.

 

Advertising, Webcast, etc.

The Great Outdoors

 

I think it would get more than all six of those you listed. I definitely don't think the HS forums should go anywhere (or really any forum for that matter) because that's the foundation of the site, but I do think this forum would have more action.

I'm in favor. A Seahawks board that I frequent very often has a combined gaming/Fantasy forum and it gets a lot of activity. I think the frequency of posts about the topic would go up simply because there are things people want to post about but don't because they don't want to clutter up the primary boards.

I've played enough fantasy sports to speak on it frequently also. I'd spend an equal amount of time in the gaming forum as I spend in General Discussion and Politics and Religion.

I don't know what other's think about it, but MW3 is kicking my butt. I'm not nearly as good at the MP as I was on MW2 or Black Ops for that matter.

I think you got the nail on the head. I could light up the board with video game talk, but I feel like I would over load the GD forum too much.

I would be a pretty heavy participator from July-December (which I think would be common for a lot because of fantasy football). I think it would be a little slower January-June, but would still get a decent amount of action because of Baseball and Basketball...and I'm just thinking about Fantasy Sports.

 

I think you would get a decent amount of video game discussion as well. In my mind, definitely worth it, but I'm biased because I've been wanting a fantasy forum for about two seasons. I feel like they clutter up the Pro Sports (And I'm one of the reasons).

 

Keep in mind January-June are peek gamer months, too cold to get out some days and every one has all of their new games to play from Christmas.....

I don't think you should combine unrelated topics just because doing so would result in more activity in that forum. There is a reason we have separate forums for unrelated topics and I am not sure I see justification to go away from that formula in this case.

I see a lot of similarity in the attraction toward both. Gaming and fantasy sports are both a means and place where people who can't--but wish they could--can.

Fantasy Sports is a form of gaming. I don't see it as being a leap at all really.

I thik fantasy sports is more like gambling and not gaming. I'll bet that 99% of all fantasy sports leagues have money on the line. That's not the case for video gamers.

I'll take that bet. It's not even close to that number. I'd say that there are more fun leagues then there are money leagues.

I guess I just can't see a reason to not try out a Fantasy Sports/Gaming forum. It's obvious there is a lot of interest and the worst that could happen is we just go back to the way things are now. I'm almost positive that it would be a very good addition to the site.
