:thumb: Absolutely, a few years ago Paris played at Raceland, had 13 kids and they played as hard as they could go the entire game, never quit. I respect that and the Paris kids that love the game of flootball.

 

My how things have changed there over time. I recall Paris comming to Paducah and playing us in the Purchase Bowl in the 80's. I recall we won and I think ended a winning streak of theirs at the time but they were a force back then. What has changed since the 80's? #kids, coaching?

On a BW note, Spartan, what in the world have you done with JasonB? Over the years he has been a regular and starting a couple years ago he has slowly fallen off though this is the time of year he usually turns up. Did you uswe the old BG on Jason?

Don't know him personally, but am kind of glad he's not posting on here. He had some unrealistic insight on BW football. I know he went to school there in the 90's;however, he's not around the program anymore that I'm aware of.

bjaynes, I was just repeating what one of your own who's opinion on here I highly respect. To head this off so it does not turn ugly I want to see if that is an opinion shared by most of you Tiger fans who have watched BW over the years. If so that is scary for the rest of 1A.

An interesting side story is that a former Tiger is on the Paris coaching staff. Jake Besse was on a senior on the 2007 State Championship team playing tackle and defensive end. Jake certainly isn't used to being on the short end of 1-9 record. Great kid, hope he can make a difference down there.

TP, I said it (frosh) for effect since we wore it out about a month ago when there was less to talk about. Other than inviting Moeller over I believe the JV and frosh ran the table. I could be wrong. I do not put much stock in the record but it is better to win them all than lose them all for nothing more than looking into the future. As far as the BW history goes I only have a few years of exposure since I am one of those yankees you know. The history I have is the Michigan HS powers.

I am not going to reveal my source yet until we get some input from some of the regulars like VOR and Crunch. Spartan weighed in but sorta avoided providing his opinion. The best opinion might be that of quickslick but he is keeping his opinions to himself these days so we might have to revisit this if BW wins the title. I think how you finish has alot to do with how fans view and remeber teams. Maybe this would be better served as it's own thread.

 

OK, TP, not much to talk about related to the game so I will play along. I would say on the basis of talent, that this team is right there in the top for discussion. Until they prove it on the field, I can't say they are the most talented or best team ever. If they are wearing rings, then the discussion can get more serious.

 

But to answer for you at this point in time, I would be surprised if this isn't the fastest Beechwood team ever. It isn't just the top two or three, the speed runs deep on this team. Vocke just broke the season TD record of the player most acknowledge as the greatest RB in BW history (Brandon Berger, played major league baseball for a couple years). There are 3 or 4 players on this team getting serious looks from D1 programs. If they truly get offers and accept, then that helps this team's argument as to being the most talented. The depth of talent on this team also helps their argument. Without injuries, this team is as close to playing true platoon football as any team in BW history. So all those things put this team in the discussion. However, as I said above, if they aren't wearing rings at the end of the season, end of discussion.

I have been around BW football for over 3 decades. This is a great team certainly, but IMO, they are borderline Top 5. Top 5 weren't necessarily State Champs. Hell, on my list, one of the top 5 didn't even make it to the finals.

 

It doesn't matter to me who the best BW team is/was, I want to focus on the next 5 games 1 at a time. All I care about is that we are better than those teams the night we play them. Paper doesn't mean anything.

 

Remember, the Rankings don't look too good in the Trophy Case.

I make this statement without any hesitation - Beechwood's team next year will have the most talent of any team in school history.

 

Stated by perhaps the biggest BW fan of all. It was VOR who makes this claim. Do you guys agree and/or feel this to be the case? Make no mistake, I think this is a very good BW team and I was not around 1A much back in the 90's so I certainly do not know. I know I have watched many on this team the last 2 years on video and in person against Mayfield. Mayfield's team this year in my opinion, is good but I don't think it is as good as some of the others we have fielded. I never could grasp it when it was said so I felt it was worthy of revisiting. If so and we win or play well I can feel pretty good about my Cards. I was hopeful VOR would weigh in and maybe he will.

The 95 BW squad is the best one in my eyes so of the ones I have watched. I think Brandon B was on that squad. Team speed this year is the best, that is interesting.

Brandon was not on the 95 team. He graduated in 1993. The RB you saw in 1995 was good, but nowhere near a Brandon Berger. He was one of the best RB's to graduate from BW for sure, top 2 in my opinion. I think this is a very nice team this year, but not going to make the Top 5 BW teams of all time. I do not think this is the fastest or the most talented group in BW history either. It is certainly one of the fastest, but I don't know if I would call it the fastest. This won't even be a topic of conversation unless BW wins state. I know Mayfield has had BW's number, but I would take some of the teams that I saw come through BW in the 90's against any Mayfield team that I have seen. They have had some serious talent in recent years, but I don't remember much noise coming out of Mayfield in the 90's
