Back in the old days if the game ended in a tie, there was no overtime, but rather the tiebreaker was "penetrations," which basically mean the team with the most first downs won the game. How crazy is that.

 

FWIW, Lloyd Memorial actually made it to the state finals in 1965 without technically winning a game. They tied both games and won on the tiebreaker both times. They would romp to a huge win the state finals.
