I dont know how much he played last night but are we really going to complain about a kid getting 21 carries? Some people refuse to give credit to any kid east of Lexington. How sad some adults are.

I was going by the Ashland paper they had him at 799 going into the game, but it was unoffically.

I don't care if he had 21 carries for 42 carries, or 60. In huge blowouts, it's WHEN he got the carries that would make me upset. I'd like to know how many 4th quarters he's played in, in these blowouts they have been laying out.

The adults on here are right. What the heck is this 18 year old kid thinking running the ball when he is told too. Why doesn't he revolt+ refuse to go in the game or carry the ball when his number is called? Good grief people get over yourself! Be happy for a kid that has obviously worked his tail end of to become a great high school running back. A lot of those yards are against some very good football teams! He doesn't have the cream of the crop surrounding him like a running back at LOUISVILLE Trinity or Highlands does either! Pretty sure nobody in Johnson Co cares about who carries the ball for Trinity or Highlands! Shame on "Johnsonville" or Johnson Central in the middle of little old Paintsville in Johnson Co for having one of the best running backs in the history of the state. That should never happen!

Congrats JJ. You have a lot of adults at opposing schools that know how hard you have worked + appreciate the way you play the game! I've had my go rounds with some Johnson Central people but this kid deserves all the praise he can get. They've played some good teams the last few years. Teams know he's getting the ball. He goes out and gets the job done! That's all you can ask of a kid!

I think it's also safe to say that the current record holder had some of this going on as well. This is not the NFL, you are going to have lots of cupcake games in HS over a 4-5 year career.

Something makes me think Homer broke it in the state title game....not sure. I understand cupcakes. But busting 50+ yarder in a 50 point blowout in the 4th is for the birds.

You get over it man. You're one of my favorite posters on here but why try to run a good kid into the ground on here for something he has no control of? He goes all out the way he should. He's had nice games vs nice opponents over the last few years. I've watched him. He's legit. I understand what you are saying about leaving him in but I just think it's bush smearing a kids thread. I also would venture to say Derek Homer had a lot of carries to get his yardage too vs a lot of smaller schools.

I'd like to know what he rushed for vs Cov Cath, Highlands or some of the other big schools. I'd ventrue to say he's been in triple digits in about all those games with everybody in the house knowing he's getting the ball.
