I want the facts to be correct also. I could be wrong, memory is not what it used to be. I'm sure he had well over 1100 against those five quality opponents. He has done it his whole carreer and so far this year he has averaged about 25 carries a game. I have two sons who play on this team, one who plays in the backfield with JJ , both start on defence, and I would be upset if Matney didn't do everything in his power not to let JJ earn the record as long as it didn't compromise wins. I feel there is alot of hypocritsism on here with all the 70-0 victories posted on here. Each team is unique, Highland plays their players as long as their coach feels he needs to keep his players in shape to win another state championship. JC plays their players as deep into the games as Matney feels necessary to get them as deep in the playoffs as possible. JC may have a much bigger enrollment than HHS, but not nearly the depth. If it was not for JJ's temendous work ethic (lifting six days a week and running on saturdays and Sundays even after big games), 25 carries a night would not even be close to being prepared for Ashland, Belfry,Cov Cath, and Highland.

Just to be clear.....25 touches is plenty....but do you really feel Matney keeps Jude and the other starters in, deep, because that's what's going to let them make a run?

My kudos are out for him....it's not really about him....more about the coach. You don't need to have a kid of yours go grab a record by inflating his numbers against lesser opponents. It won't make Jude any less of an athlete.

I understand where you are coming from and I consider you a friend on here. I just hate to see him have so much criticism thrown his way. The few times I've seen him around the younger kids he seems like a great kid. I have also seen him several times against some nice programs who know he's getting the rock + he has lived up to the hype. I would venture to guess most of the record holders have gotten the ball at times they might not should have. I also am pretty sure he's had games where he had under 10 carries but blew up the yards. Seems like one of the 1st games this year he carried like 7 times for 300 plus yards.

End of the day I'm happy for JJ. He's always been a class act when I've seen him+ always put his team on his back even when coaches know he's getting the ball. He plays with great low pad level. Always driving forward+ outstanding vision/latteral jump cut movement. Best of luck to him chasing his record.

I get what you are saying if they are padding stats when they are way up. I doubt he's the only kid on that list where that's happened.

You get over it man. You're one of my favorite posters on here but why try to run a good kid into the ground on here for something he has no control of? He goes all out the way he should. He's had nice games vs nice opponents over the last few years. I've watched him. He's legit. I understand what you are saying about leaving him in but I just think it's bush smearing a kids thread. I also would venture to say Derek Homer had a lot of carries to get his yardage too vs a lot of smaller schools.

I'd like to know what he rushed for vs Cov Cath, Highlands or some of the other big schools. I'd ventrue to say he's been in triple digits in about all those games with everybody in the house knowing he's getting the ball.

There is no doubt in my mind, he has to . I also think there is some stat padding but there have been plenty of games where the starters play one half or one series into the third. We are one of the few schools in eastern Kentucky who has both a jv and freshman team. The starters have to get reps.

Congrats to Jude. Last year he proved to be the best running back the Boyle County defense has faced since Larry French took over and one of the best opposing running backs I have seen against Boyle. He was a pleasure to watch. Good luck to him this year and beyond.

I want him to take over the rushing record just because of his name. C'mon man, JJ Jude. Thats awesome, easy name to remember for long term memory lost people like myself.

 

Besides, I watched him play last yr against Highlands and the kid is pretty darn good. Certainly not the best I have ever seen but who really cares, not me. Congrats JJ Jude.

I'm not going to say it didn't happen but I can't remember the game you are talking about.

Trintiy at Male this past friday, also m the QB/RB played into the third quarter, and their highly talented WR played even more. I was there and have the game tape. I figured their Coach wanted to get to the runnng clock as quick as possible. Ask Manual about last years game against Trinity when the same team scored late in the game and stopped the clock to do so. Their AD was so upset he came onto the field and now will not allow his JVs/Freshmen to play Trinity. The varsity has to.

 

I post this after reading the Trinity's fans comments, great job JJ hope you break it and its the others team job to stop you.

I think you also have to look at the big picture on that one. Johnson Central was a catch away from beating Highlands in the playoffs which is not something many people can say. They were able to play with Highlands because of a kid like JJ Jude which takes all of the other teams focus. I apprecaite you posting. I couldn't remember what he had vs Highlands.
