Looks like dad missed out on a national title.

My dad and I were discussing this game today. I told him I wasn't sold on Moeller and I thought Cathedral had a good chance to win this game. However, I wanted Moe to win because I think it helps Trinity's chances of winning the national title.

If I was a high school football coach ,I'd get a copy of that game and show it every week of the year , to my team. I'd say this is what happens when you don't give up (MOE) , AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T MAKE THE PLAY ( long pass at the end of game for Indy Cathedral).

 

I remember some guy (me)before the season talking about the over-rated GCL South teams on Trinity's schedule. Let's see , Moeller ( don't have to worry about the national title anymore ) , Elder (done ) ,Cincinnati X ( done ) and I'll throw in Colerain ( even though their not in the GCL South) , how many home game winning streak do they have now ?

 

I'm always glad to see the ohio big boys fall to the Ky and Indiana teams. I wanted Trinity to smoke mighty Moe , so now when Moe plays T they have an excuse ( we are resting our staters for the playoffs )

 

I watched this whole game and Mighty Moe couldn't stop the running game or long pass plays all night long !

 

Am I wrong ? Maybe the Ohio teams aren't over-rated or is Trinity just that great ?

I agree, if you all beat the Crusaders and if the Crusaders or Bombers beat St. Edward, I believe the chances are still good.

What really needs to happen is Moe win out and be the big school Ohio state champs .

Also , Trinity needs to run up the score when they play Moeller !

Cathedral had their #1 QB playing last night , when they played Trinity he sat out due to injury, and their #2 started. Trinity is by far better than Cathedral , even if Cathedral has their #1 QB playing !

And where in mine did I accuse you of that? I didn't. Just saying that "run[ning] up the score" (your words) would likely result in bad blood between T and the opponent. And if you want to play them again - don't know if this is the case - it wouldn't be a smart thing to do.

 

Running up the score in my mind implies that you intentionally pile on points when the outcome is decided. Now, "winning impressively" may mean the same thing, but it just sounds less callous when you put it that way.

1. Trinity is THAT great...I've been saying this for weeks and was shot down to suggest that their fans should revel in this team and enjoy the weekly beat downs they are going to administer to teams. Whatever.

2. Ohio is WAY DOWN this year, no question. It is one of the worst years, across the state, I have seen in a long, long time. At the end of the season, no more than 1 OH team should be ranked in the top 25 in any national poll and they should probably fall somewhere in the 18-25 range.

 

It's sad that THIS Trinity team couldn't get the GCL teams in their better years. Beating them all this year really doesn't mean much. However, that's not to say it won't still benefit Trinity in their hunt for a National Title. Moeller is good enough, I think, to win the D1 crown so if they do, it will make T look all that much better.

 

Oh, and as an aside...my Cardinals have lost 5 starting Varsity players on offense including their best offensive weapon and their starting QB and are STILL sitting at 7-1 so I am pretty happy about that even though you still clearly enjoy beating on them....

 

...speaking of beating on them, when was the last time Highlands beat Colerain?? :lol: :sssh:

The kicker who made the winning FG was the backup kicker. Cathedral has a potential D1 kicker that was suspended.
