Birds show great respect to Bulldogs by going onsides with 13 seconds elapsed and a 7-0 lead.

 

My guess is Mueller saw something that made him put onside on the first kickoff into his gameplan. Not sure what your intent is in making the respect comment but I think when two district opponents, both undefeated in district play, match up all is fair at 7- 0. If your questioning Highlands respect for the opponent, I think the fact that Highlands obviously had a gameplan clearly designed for Holmesis a sign of respect for the opponent.

On side kick was a good strategic play. The 1st long TD pass play was also seemingly planned well before the first kickoff. Highlands was ready, willing and able in this one. Glad I got to see HHS play but I wish it was against a stronger opponent. This one was hard to watch.

I was at the game & Holmes started the game with a squib, but I don't think it was an on sides kick by Highlands...To me it looked like the kicker missed the ball. Not sure tho.

All depends where it's coming from! LOL! Maybe, it's something the coaching staff feels they might want to use next week so why not practice it. A big ole WOW to you my friend!

As I was reading down the posts, tdyballgame beat me to posting my thoughts. Highlands knows they are going to dominate big time in these games so it makes sense to me that at times the coaching staff uses the game as a laboratory to try some things out.

Just suprised to see it on the games forth play. My only thought is "respectful"

 

Actually if it was a designed on side kick, I'd much rather Mueller call it very early in the game before Highlands has a huge lead (and my guess is that if you think about it, you would too). It's good coaching to work on an on side kick during real game conditions.

It sounds like Jack Collinsworth is becoming a go-to receiver now that he is healthy.
