If SOS is taken into consideration for the award than that should eliminate any player from Highlands as well.

 

Boyle Co: 2 time defending 4a State Champion, Elder: GCL Team, arguably the toughest league in the country, Ryle: Only Ky team to beat HHS in 5yrs, Western: A very athletic team from Louisville that was the favorite to represent the West in the 4a State Championship and Dixie: A team that has one of the top qbs in the country and was supposed to be very good this year. They have been decimated by injuries.. Yeah looks like a really bad schedule..:idunno:

He is top 5 senior in state. Week in and week out the Breds play against school 2 or 3 times their size and he still cant be stopped.

Why would you say that?? They can't help who is in their district..So your telling me that Boyle Co., Elder, Ryle, Western, and Dixie are a bad non conference schedule?

I havent seen Hightchew play, but I don't think he should not be in the running just because he plays weak teams. That definitely should be taken into consideration when choosing the best player, but I dont think he should be automatically tossed out of the conversation.

 

He doesn't play weak teams, besides his district games. You need to go relook at the schedule that they played last year and this year. Just bc Highlands is missing doesn't make it automatically weak

Its nice that these teams had success in the past but there is no way you can deny that each one of these teams are down this year, some severely down. You also can't deny that this has turned out to be one of Highlands weakest schedules in recent years. I'm pretty sure Highlands didn't expect some of these teams to be as bad as they are this year and I think it's silly to hold that against them. But I also think its silly to hold NCC's schedule against Hightchew when every non district game is scheduled against teams in a higher classifications (including 3 6A schools) with the exception of Beechwood.

 

IMO, Towles wins Mr Football easily but Hightchew deserves to be in the conversation.

I agree.. I am not holding anything against Brady.. He is by far the most talented 3 sport athlete in NKy..He definately deserves to be in the Mr. Football conversation. The kid flat out performs when the game is on the line. I wish more kids had his heart..

For most teams there is a chance to play 8 more games this year, and at least the last 3 should be competive. With less than half the season being played, and lots of lopsided games some players may look like Mr. Football. I look for Towles, and Hightchew to both be playing in the championships where Mr. Football should be selected, with most of the other canidates eliminated along the way.

I dont care who wins it, of course I do, (Towles of Highlands) but if the NewCath kid wins it so be it. As long as its a NKY kid. LOL.

Well... If Highlands doesnt play a good schedule, who does? Also, the playoffs have to be taken into consideration too. If Highlands goes to the state championship, they will have to play a few tough teams to get there. This isn't Highlands toughest schedule ever, but teams they are playing have underperformed and that is really tough to predict. It is tough to get teams to schedule Highlands and I have proof, Highlands played Ryle twice last year. There are just not many teams in Kentucky that are any good, and some of the ones that are good refuse to schedule them.

I looked at the schedule and they play a relativly tough schedule for a school their size. But Mr. Football is for all classes. My point was not to take a shot at NCC, my point was that if someone (any team) plays a weak schedule, it does have to be taken into consideration but it should not automatically throw them out of the running for Mr. Kentucky Football.

So Elder playing in GCL means something? Should Pendelton mean something cause of the district they play in? I have seen Elder plasy this year and not only will HHS destroy them a few other teams in NKY could give them a game. This may be worst Elder team in 20 years. I have seen Dixie as well and other than Pike they are terrible. HHS schedule is weak this year, not their fault that these teams are having a bd season but it is what it is. With that said that has nothing to do with the play of this kid from NewCath. IMO top 5 player in Kentucky if he was a few inches taller he would be getting big time D1 offers.
