In this economy, I wonder how someone can move, move back, and legitimately move again to re-establish eligibility. People must be living above my means to do this simply for great academics.

Some people spend their lives living through their kids and IMO if you have to go through all the trouble to move kids around so much then you didnt do your homework upfront and there are other factors in your decision to move. I moved to Ft. Thomas 12 yrs ago before my kids entered grade school for academics I didnt wait until my kids played AAU ball with others or I developed friendships with certain coaches, etc. When I see kids moving all over the state it cracks me up. Best of luck to them.....it only last a short while so enjoy your HS athletic career while it lasts.

I agree with you. However, if Jalen stayed at GC, that short high school athletic career you mentioned would of been cut by about a year. Jalen also sees his friends about as much as he did before so there isn't to much of a change folks.

I think we all agree that we want what is best for the student and athlete. In his case, he gains academically and athletically.

So what you're saying is he really hasn't moved? Is that why he can still see his friends about as much? And why would his career be cut by about a year?

:ohbrother: No. I never said that. Where, in any of what I previously said, do you get that assumption?

He can still see his friends as much because Walton is 2 exits away from Dry Ridge. Considering that is common knowledge, I didn't feel the need to expand on it.

Why are you so worried about this? For someone who says it won't be a blow to GC, you sure are uptight about knowing all the facts regarding Jalen. He wants to play ball and have a better education.

McNeil returns with Hargett (6'5") foward (return starter), Tanner Moeves guard (return starter), Daniel Helton (6'5') forward, Cole Moser (6'6") center....and if Kinmon can get eligible he will give depth to the guard position.

Nice lineup.

It sounds like if you read between the lines....that Hick's wasn't going to let him play when he came back to GC. I'm guessing but his senior year came down to choosing between his friends at GC or playing basketball somewhere else.

 Yeah, I heard that Kinmon started at Walton this year and when he went back to Grant he just couldn't cope with the large class size and went back to Walton.

As to Jalen transfering to Walton. Let's not make assumptions as to why this decision was made and vilify his parent's decision. This is a forum on High School athletics. Not the Dr. Phil show so I politely request you keep your personal opinions about raising your kids to yourself.

You just keep thinking that! ..LOL!

I played with Jalen 3 years ago and he was/has been steps ahead of his peers in basketball. Grant will lose their best all-around player with the highest basketball IQ (It runs in their family). He is a great ball-handler, sees the floor, excellent passer, can shoot off the dribble and makes the players around him better. If anyone with common basketball knowledge watched the Braves (9-20) last year Jalen was obviously mis-used. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize you do not stick a player like him in the corner or on the free throw line setting screens for the entire game. Jalen is assiduous about his athletics/academics and his transfer was decided in his best interest. I look forward to supporting Walton this year as they will have a very talented team. As to Grant County, their administration and coaching staff as a collective, have lost support from myself. I do not see the reasoning for pursuing the ineligibility of a 17-year old when the move was legal in every aspect of the KHSAA by-laws. Btw, I am very biased toward Jalen. Blood is thicker than water. :walk:

I am anxious to see the 8th region games this year. I think a lot of players stepped up their games over the summer and you will see some players who have not been mentioned, rise to a new skill level and get some attention. It's always exciting to see the players develop. It's going to be an exciting year in the 8th. Can't wait.

Does this not completely tarnish all of your points?

No.

Jalen's a good player and a great kid. Don't know how things got so disjointed at GC but the kid wants to play his senior year. I don't blame the kid for wanting to play his senior year for GC or any other school.

Does it tarnish Fox New's points about Republicans or CNN's about Democrats?
