StickerMann Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Home opener--43,000 announced, sounds like it was much less?? In danger of blackouts all year except when PB turns into Pittsburgh South?? 14 posts on the game update thread?? And worst of all--NO BGP final game thread?? Are the fans finally speaking with their wallets (Hope so)? Are the fans losing interest? Does Mike Brown & the Family care?

Clyde Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 As PDoc said today there is a core of fans that will show up to support them. I do see the crowds getting smaller and smaller unless they start winning.
hrcarrier Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Not certain if I would say irrelevant, but it is very clear that they do not have the support that they were accustomed to. As far as your question about blackouts are concerned, I believe there is a good chance that many more will be. Only games I see as possibly being televised when at home may be the Steelers and the Browns, and those games may be questionable. I spoke to a guy that I work with who went to the game earlier today and he said that there were well over 20,000 tickets available on Friday.
Flotsam Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I predict many Bengals season ticket holders (much more than usual, which is alot) will put their Steelers tickets up on EBAY, Stub Hub and other secondary vendors. It is bad enough to watch the Bungs lose, but to do so with yellow towels being waved in your sight-line adds insult to injury. For the Pittsburgh fan who wants to attend, plenty of good lower level sideline seats will be available. At a reasonable price. There will also be 20,000 plus upper level tickets available through the Bungals ticket office. The available tickets may be too much for even the Steeler fans to fully absorb.

Most popular sport in the US--Home opener and at least 1/3rd empty?? New season and a team that hasn't lost a lot yet?? Some new faces that actually seem interested, and a "D" with some guys worth cheering for?? Sounding like the fan base is FINALLY becoming disinterested?? As Clyde said, there is always a significant group that will show for the party, and the fact they paid a ton for season tickets; but 43K in a 66K stadium on opening day (and a beautiful one at that) is downright shameful??

At this point I'm not so sure the Pitt game will sell out.
hrcarrier Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I really hope today's attendance at the game was a message to Mike Brown (very good chance it was not due to his intelligence). According to Sports of All Sorts, today's attendance was the lowest for a home opener since 1981.
stick1 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I think most are like me. I grew up liking the Bengals because they are the closest geography wise. As I started realizing how the world works I realize what a loser Mike Brown is. I still have a blast when I go to games but I know they aren't going anywhere under his leadership. I walked away 3 years ago and quit wasting money there unless it's a once a year get away with the guys. I will say it is very refreshing to see guys like Green+Dalton there. Got so tired of the side show junk w guys like Chad Johnson + all the thugs the Bengals had. Nice drop for a TD by Chad today! Number one receiver ha! Might want to watch Wes Welker while he's on the sideline!
MJAlltheWay24 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I am going to the game this week with my dad, but only because we were able to score some free tickets. And as bad as they are, didn't want to pass that time up with pops! I might be secrelty cheering for Fred Jackson to have a big day though lol. The franchise is a disgrace to professional sports.
HT721 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 On a side note to this, if attendance keeps drying up do the Bengals become a potential team for LA?
formerkywrestler Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 On a side note to this, if attendance keeps drying up do the Bengals become a potential team for LA?I think Jacksonville has a pretty big lead in the race to be the LA team.
Lucky Charms Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 On a side note to this, if attendance keeps drying up do the Bengals become a potential team for LA? I don't see Mike Brown doing that right now. He's got a very good situation for his wallet. Even when the Bungles suck, he's still going to make money. Obviously it doesn't come down to wins and loses.
HammerTime Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I think they have to stay till 2020 because of the stadium deal. Plus he would be stupid to leave to deal he already has.

I honeslty don't know how true this is, nor do I have a report to verify it, but I was told that Mike Brown turns a profit on the Bengals before the gates even open for the first home game, so it really doesn't matter what the attendance is (granted he makes more).
