Tom Brady completes 32 passes for 517 yards...and Chad has 1 of them for 14 yards? I think someone's ego is going to take serious bruising this year! The fact that Brady said he would welcome back Randy Moss says a LOT.

Didn't all the talking heads say that the offenses were going to be sporadic to start the season? Guess they missed that.

Perhaps. But, the thing that catches my attention most as a totally unbiased observer of these two teams (I do not particularly like either) is that Baltimore was dominating the playoff game last year prior to the folly of errors that completely swung the game, then they dominate 4 quarters yesterday. Could just be a bad game by the Steelers. We'll see.

 

I think you can look at it two different ways, either Bal dominated the first half and Pitt the second half or both had a half with folly of errors...

 

Now yeasterday, I just hope that it was a bad game that just snowballed out of control...

I do not see Indy doing it, and they have a legit shot at the number one pick.

 

They have an aging QB that has had 3 neck surgeries in 19 months and they can get out of his contract after this year without ever paying him another cent. Indy might tank the season to get Luck by not bringing Manning back if he's ready after 8 or 9 games.

I agree. And, I wouldn't read much into the playoff game, but in light of what happened Sunday, it just makes me wonder. Has Baltimore finally turned the corner against the Steelers and Big Ben? Of course, the Steelers will have some big time motivation for the rematch. And, the NFL is a week-to-week league. Who thought the Jets would go into New England and win a playoff game after they got waxed by the Pats a few weeks earlier?

One thought that occurred to me last night, something that separates the elite QB's from the rest...

 

The great ones, like Brady, can get the ball in the end zone when they get close. The rest struggle to get it in the end zone. Henne was passing up and down the field, but he struggled when the field shrunk. Brady didn't. Rogers doesn't.

 

That's not the only thing that makes the Bradys and Mannings better, but it is a big difference, IMO.

Indy is a team built to win right now. If you get Luck, you are rebuilding for three years before you are a contender. Manning will be great for at least 5 more years- it makes more sense to trade Luck and get pieces to help Peyton win right now. Plus, there is no way they force Manning out the door in Indy- not for any other QB. His status is too great.

I still have my concerns about my Eagles and Vick going forward. Like normal they are not going to be good at stopping the run nor will they remain committed to the run despite having a good back in McCoy. Sunday reminded me more of the Atlanta Vick. Under 50% passing but solid yardage with almost 100 yards rushing. He is not going to survive the season playing like that.

Indy is a team built to win right now. If you get Luck, you are rebuilding for three years before you are a contender. Manning will be great for at least 5 more years- it makes more sense to trade Luck and get pieces to help Peyton win right now. Plus, there is no way they force Manning out the door in Indy- not for any other QB. His status is too great.

 

I don't think they'd start Luck. My thought was whether they would draft him, if in position, to sit behind Peyton until he retires. They obviously need to address the QB position. The fact that they haven't developed a backup has had disastrous consequences on them this year. Manning will be 36 next year and coming off a neck surgery that caused him to miss significant time (if not the entire season). They could end up in a position to draft Luck, sit him behind Peyton, and groom him to take over when the time comes. The problem is the potential for a QB controversy down the road. What would happen if Manning's play starts to slip a little. You've got an aging legend at QB who isn't quite what he once was, and a young stud waiting in the wings who has been sitting behind him for 2-3 years. That would be interesting. I wonder how Indy and how their fans would handle that situation.

Bingo. Plus tell Sanchez and Big Ben all about being put into good spots at a young age. Also, why are we assuming Manning will ever play again? 3 neck surgeries in 19 months isn't a laughing matter. If a doctor tells him he should be done he's done. That simple.
