I hope all of NBC's Thursday/Sunday (and Saturday?) games are as good as the first two.

 

Rookie QBs - Newton stole the show, but Andy Dalton was looking pretty good himself prior to leaving the game with injury.

 

Beatdowns (in order of surprise)

 

Texans 34, Colts 7 - Not surprised. I was actually expecting something like this. I chose the Texans in my survivor pool.

Bears 30, Falcons 12 - Although I'm not as high on Ryan and the Falcons as most are, I thought this one would be close.

Bills 41, Chiefs 7 - Not as high on the Chiefs as many, but didn't think they'd get rolled at home by Buffalo.

Ravens 35, Steelers 7 - You just don't expect a one-sided massacre when these two meet. Period. And, if it does happen, you don't expect Pitt to be on the receiving end.

 

 

Disappointing Debuts

1. Mark Ingram - 40 Yards on 13 carries, but was stuffed more than once on short yardage plays.
   
2. Kerry Collins - Not that I expected anything else, but the Colts offense was totally inept.
   
3. Donovan McNabb - 7 of 15 for 39 yards. Seriously?
   
4. Tarvaris Jackson - Passing numbers weren't awful, but they lie. No presence. 3 fumbles, lost two and threw a pick. Word is, they're hoping to get in position to draft Jacory Harris.
   

Promising Debuts

1. AJ Green - His first NFL reception was a 41 yard TD. That's pretty cool.
   
2. Patrick Peterson - Game-winning return TD in his first game.
   
3. Randall Cobb - Wow! :eek:
   
4. Kevin Kolb - 309 yard, 66.7%, 2 TD. So far, so good.
   

Welcome Back (or not)

1. Reckless Rex - 21 of 34, 305 yards, 2 TD, No picks
   
2. Ted Ginn, Jr. - Didn't know you still played.
   
3. Steve Smith Carolina - You've matched last year's TD total and you're roughly 1/3 of the way there on receiving yards.

Gotta hope that the Giants defense will improve somewhat when Osi, Tuck and Amukamara return.

I will say I was most impressed with the Bears. Unless Atlanta got a lot worst during the lockout/offseason (highly unlikely), what Chicago did against them was impressive. Not just on the offensive end (where they have had their struggles), but on D as well. We all knew/know Chicago is always going to put a solid defense on the field, but they had their way with one of the best Offenses in the league. Falcons didn't stand a chance.

Well I was frustrated with CJ as well, I wasn't expecting him to do too much in his first week. I was hoping for at least an average game though. I think we'll see more CJ-like numbers next week.

But seriously, he played better than I thought he would... And actually played well enough to win before special teams collapsed down the stretch. It was 19-17 and the Seahawks had momentum, and then Ted Ginn went crazy.

 

I'm still not confident with him at all, but other than holding on to the ball too long (and too long isn't very long at all with this offensive line) I think he did OK.. And I use that term lightly.

I feel your pain man. I'm a Titans fan and I tried to convince myself that Vince Young was alright for several seasons. And, VY is better than TJ I believe. You'll see more clearly when the Tarvaris Jackson era officially ends. :lol:
