I certainly root for the kid and I've certainly pointed out where he has gotten a lot of attention from others. If that's being unobjective then I'm 100% guilty. Call me out when you see me paint a rosier picture of his performance than is warranted. He's played two games so there isn't much I have to look for in regards to evaluating his performance. I said he played hard last week (true). I said he helped lead them to the red zone 3 or 4 times last week (true). He had a strong game running and the numbers proved that. Where was I over the top in my praise? You threw down the gauntlet with the UKfan#1 comment. Them's fightin' words.

Good catch...he was actually 9 of 22 for 83 yards.

One of the other turning points of the game , especially from a momentum perspective, was the end of the first half. HC started a late possession close to their goal line. Someone with stats will have to back me up but I remember a few incomplete passes that stopped the clock. Add on a long punt return by Fogle and Conner had a short field. HC could have done a better job of eating clock or forcing Conner to use timeouts. Conner scored. Tied it up. Momentum all on Conner's side.

I haven't seen all of the punters in NKY but if there is one better than Fuller from HC then that punter is really, really good. Add in that his kickoffs are touchbacks and you've got a strong kicker.

HC had a 3 and out (2 very short runs and an incomplete pass) with Conner calling 2 timeouts after the runs (clock stopped after incompletion). After that came the Fogle punt return. HC only had the ball for 33 seconds. Conner had the ball with 1:21 left and it took them 39 seconds to go 13 yards for Barker's 2nd TD.

I thought HC looked like they were gased after the 1st quarter. They came out and I thought they were going to blow Conner out. Conner did a good job of sustaining drives and chewing up clock, but HC needs to be in better shape if they think they can play a full game with good teams. Another thing I noticed was the HC players looked disinterested in playing last night. Alot of walking around and non-hustle plays. Conner didn't look more talented than HC, but they showed they wanted it more and didn't let up. That is a good sign for Conner as the season moves on. HC better find an answer other than Fuller if they plan on beating NCC or Beechwood. The DE's and LB's didn't have a good game last night for HC either. When they were fresh, they were very good. When they got tired, it looked as if they just quit. Hopefully Koz can get more out of them and get them in better shape. Good win for Conner. That QB is going to be great as he matures

The bottom line is that the "3 and out" series was huge. Conner was out of time outs after 2nd down. If HC runs the ball on 3rd down instead of passing before punting, I don't see Connor having enough time to tie the score before the half. Football has such a mental aspect, especially the younger you go. If HC goes into up 14-7 instead of tied 14-14 AND gets the ball in the second half, if/when/maybe/could/should/possibly...............things might have been different. By the way, I hate that cliche! Speculation is good for the blogs...that's it!

Much further for HC to reach NCC than the Indians realize.
