Definitely! This year the game is on the 17th (which everyone knows), which also happens to be my son's birthday....AND WE HAVE TO BOTH GO TO A WEDDING THAT DAY! Who does that? Who plans a wedding on the day of the UL/UK football game?! And on top of that, they didn't get engaged all that long ago, and the groom is a UL fan. SMH

When it is game 1, the anticipation leading up to the game is so much better because it lasts basically all summer instead of 1 week.

 

Plus it doesn't get burried on ESPNU or ESPN Classic

Not only do we miss all the hype to the UK - UL game not being Game 1.........we compound the error by opening on a Thursday at 9:15 at a place/time that few fans want to go. So much for building momentum to kick off the season!!

I'm just glad football starts this Thursday, sure I wish it was UK vs UL but at this point I'm happy either way.

I always look forward to this game on opening weekend. But I also always hate watching an important game between two teams without any experience under their belts to work off the rust.
