August 14, 201115 yr Since reports had her giving out 6,000 tickets to the event, it’s not quite what one would call a huge endorsement for her. Heck, Rick Perry got 718 write-in votes and he didn't even show up. The fact that she narrowly beat Ron Paul shows about how much stock you should put into this poll...

August 14, 201115 yr Race will come down to 3 choices..Romney, Bachmann (sorry boys she will be in longer than you think, or can give her credit for), and Perry.
August 14, 201115 yr Race will come down to 3 choices..Romney, Bachmann (sorry boys she will be in longer than you think, or can give her credit for), and Perry.Agree completely.
August 14, 201115 yr Race will come down to 3 choices..Romney, Bachmann (sorry boys she will be in longer than you think, or can give her credit for), and Perry. Romney is praying for that. If he can get Bachmann and Perry to hang in the race till the end, split the far right vote between them, then Romney might be able to win the primaries. If he can get the nomination, he has a chance to win IMO. And at this point he is the only Republican with a chance of beating Obama.
August 15, 201115 yr Race will come down to 3 choices..Romney, Bachmann (sorry boys she will be in longer than you think, or can give her credit for), and Perry. You may very well be right, but I've pegged this as a two-horse race between Mitt & Rick. But I agree with VOR that it favors Romney to have both Bachmann & Perry stay in this thing for as long as possible.
August 15, 201115 yr I've done a lot of work in Texas over the past five years. The climate for doing business and being faithful to traditional American values is exceptional. I don't know that much about Perry at this point, but we could use some Texas attitude nationwide.

I don't know that much about Perry at this point, but we could use some Texas attitude nationwide. Now that the Governor has officially thrown that hat into the ring we're going to start hearing a lot about the TX economy. I googled "rick perry texas economy" and found that not everyone thinks he is the man - no surprise there. Interesting points laid out: 1987-2001: TX jobs grew at 2.8% which is 0.8% higher than the US economy. Since Mr. Perry became governor: 0.2% growth vs -0.1% overall. A couple of ways to look at that: Job growth has slowed down since the Gov took over. Job growth has tripled as compared to the US economy. I would think many governors could do well in TX considering they are in the south ie people move there for the weather. It's a huge energy state. It has millions of people coming into TX from Mexico . Add in conservative banking policies as well. Cheap labor and relatively cheap housing draw workers and young families. How much of that is a result of the governor(any governor)?
August 15, 201115 yr Just like presidents, Governors get the credit no matter what their actual input. In this economy in this election cycle it may be a huge boost.

Governor's (and Presidents) would do good to adopt the surgeons creed - first cause no harm.....
August 15, 201115 yr Author Maybe he did not do anything to improve the situation but at least it appears he did not screw up what was working. .. 2.8% job growth to .2% job growth. No harm?
August 16, 201115 yr 2.8% job growth to .2% job growth. No harm? Given the US economy that looks downright robust.
August 16, 201115 yr Author Given the US economy that looks downright robust. One view: .2% is much higher than -0.1%. Another view: Gov dropped job growth by 93%. Are we evaluating him in an absolute manner or are we evaluating him in a relative measure?
