August 7, 201115 yr Reading in Rolling Stone that Jay-Z and Kanye are recording together. Kanye is quoted as saying he and Jay-Z are the two most influential rappers in the last 10 years. Agree? Where does Marshall Mathers fit in?
August 7, 201115 yr Jay-Z. And you have to keep in mind that Kanye produced some of Jay's best stuff. Kanye was pretty groundbreaking in his own right too. For good or ill I think more attempted to emulate Kanye than Eminem, who was certainly among the best. But, that's just my amateur assessment.

Eminem might be more technically skilled as a rapper, but I feel like Kanye's production techniques on his records and the overall quality of his tracks have had a remarkable amount of influence on the industry already and that his influence will only continue to grow. Subjectively speaking, I feel like I get a lot more out of a Kanye track than I do out of an Eminem track.
August 7, 201115 yr I honestly don't think either one have influenced anything. If I had to choose one I'd say Kanye, but I don't see any new rappers that appear to be influenced by either one. Maybe we'll see there influence in the future but right now I think most new rappers are still influenced by Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z and Nas. Not to mention, Eminem is a lyrical genius even though he is badly missing Dre's production talents on his songs and Kanye is a one of a kind rapper/producer. Both are extremely unique and talented and can't be duplicated.

August 8, 201115 yr Kanye is a one of a kind rapper/producer. Both are extremely unique and talented and can't be duplicated. I will say that I think it ultimately will be Kanye's production style/techniques that will have a lasting mark on the industry rather than his skill with lyrics..
