Shocking that a thread with a specific focus somehow turned into a Bible quoting theoretical debate about interpretations.

 

It is not really shocking, given that is the crux of the argument against gay marriage. What other argument can there be? Therefore that is where the discussion has to be. If the discussion is divorced from religion then there is really no discussion. Which is exactly where we should be. There should be no discussion if we are simply looking at secular civil rights.

I've been around long enough to know that general discussion about homosexuality leads to the same arguments on here. Nothing new gained by rehashing the re-hashed. My point was specific to the argument of the "downside" of the child having to explain his parental situation as compared to what we as a society consider "normal parent situations."

 

No biggie. Not shocked. Happens all the time. It's why we have declining participation in this forum.

Funny stuff. Interesting how nobody has rebuked any of these satirical situations or are they simply outdated concepts that we as a people have moved on from?

Agreed. Homosexuality isn’t my thing, but who am to say it can’t be your choice? While our country was founded on Christian beliefs, the Supreme Court made it clear that there is a separation of Church and State. However, there are still issues such as this where the government is still legislating based primarily on Religion and not freedom of choice.

a for someone saying they are born gay, bull, God would not allow someone to be born gay, they have a choice.

 

As for gay couples with kids, what kid doesnt want to see his dads/moms kissing each other and huggd up, real manley/lady like and so morally wrong.

I would hate to hear the question and answer raised by a boy to his 2 dads about the birds and bees. How would they answer the question to thier little kid about sex.

 

To condone this perverse behavior and some of you actually think it is ok just shows me how sick the world has become. Sorry I have not been brainwashed into tolerence of this behavior. It is morally wrong no matter how you look at it. and yes i do believe if you are gay that you will go to hell if they do not change their lifestyle.

 

Now since there are gay pride parades, can we have black, white, straight parades. i bet we cant have religious parades, but we can have gay day parades.

You can have as many white parades as you want, as long as their not violent or overly offending. It's a free country. And you honestly think it's sick that people accept gay people? I believe you're the sick one, my man. I believe it has something to do with upbringing or something in the critical stages of the development of the brain, or something like that, but either way it's uncontrollable, IMO, that one turns out gay. If it is controllable then why are there many, many gay people that wish they were straight? Wouldn't they just become straight?

hahaha, most ignorant post, I doubt it. Just becasue I am apparently the only one who does not agree with a man having sex with a man. Thank God I do not have to bow down to the pressure of having to feel tolerence for something I know and feel is wrong. Glad to NOT be part of the IN CROWD.

I agree, it's up there, I would like to see his PHD as well, and YES! People are born gay, and for someone to say "God would not allow it"? Give me a break! I think it's a crock this guy saying he has gay friends, as I would like to see his "friends" read his second paragraph you quoted about gay people hugging and kissing isn't "manley like"! I guess he isn't too comfortable with his own preference so it bothers him big time.

 

Many people that are anti-gay selectively qoute the Bible for their own agenda! Then he uses the word abomination which is an inexact translation, and is a loosely translation for multiple terms.

 

I agree with Blue Magic, people like him are the sick ones! If people are not white, straight, and on the radical right they they are not accepted to them! It's people like him that are swinging the vote to those of the far left as in part many see the pure HATE by some!

 

Now, with the NY vote, notice how many republicans voted for gay marriage? I guess they finally realized that what is okay for one group, is okay for another. I even heard one people a few months back saying how giving gay people the right to marriage will be a burden on the US due to the taxes, well if that is the case then outlaw all marriages, you can't bring up that issue to exclude one group and not the other!

 

Bottom line, EVERYONE has the same rights! Everyone has the right to be happy, and have a partner in their lives, as well as to be provided benefits as married couple have, one being to visit a sick or dying partner in the hospital.

Simple, they didn't choose it any more then a straight person choose the opposite sex. No one has a choice over who they are attracted to. Anyone that thinks differently is kidding themselves.

I sort of have the same line of thinking as you Blue Magic. I do believe that it is a choice, however a choice that is more than likely made subconsciously (some would argue then that really isn't a choice). But I feel that from birth we are manipulated by our surroundings, experiences, how we're treated, and etc. From the day we come from the womb, different things have an affect on us. I do not believe anyone is simply born gay (I don't think there is a gay gene or chromosone out there) but I also don't feel like people just wake up one day and say, "You know what, I'm going to be gay now." I think a lot of times it is a decision that is made subconciously.

 

I took a lot away from a psychology class that I took in college and we discussed this topic quite a bit. But I feel like when discussing sexuality you have to look at it on a linear scale from 0-10. Everyone falls in line somewhere on that and I would argue that very few are true "0's" and very few are true "10's". It's an interesting discussion.
