I mean, heck...I know tons of "natural born citizens" that are law breakers. Ain't no deal breaker to me.

Really? You have NO problem with someone breaking our laws and gaining an advantage over others trying to do it right?

Let's see...I know people who've gotten DUI's, caught speeding, illegal parking....and many of those people used their connections to get out of tickets. In the end, isn't that the same thing?

Way to not answer the question. I guess I can take it that you don't have a problem with breaking the law?

I take it as her saying that she isn't checking to see if a person is an illegal immigrant and breaking the law she is simply getting to know people for who they are without profiling them along the way. RM and I are similar in that we are trusting our government to sort out who should and shouldn't be here. I am not an immigration officer or a cop and I don't think RM is either.

So the Where Do you Fit questionaire has me as being a Libertarian. I can see that as my social views have expanded some over the past few years but I am still rather conservative on economics.

Because they have done such an efficient job so far, right? :D

What else can I do? I am an optimist. I always hope for the best.

If that's the case I'm ok with that as I don't expect citizens to act as the police. But that's not the same as being ok with someone breaking the law. IMO.

Sorry...I was at work, with limited time to post. PP92 nailed it, as far as what I mean. When I meet immigrants, which I do on a daily basis because of the number we hire where I work, it simply never occurs to me to wonder about the legality of their status. I look at them and treat them as I do any other new people we hire...without wondering what they have in their past. That's all I meant.

I guess I'm with you there.

Similarly, when I meet new people I don't wonder whether they're straight or gay; Muslim, Christian or worshippers of bundles of sticks; Mason County or Clark County fans...

Exactly! Well...except 2 things....are they X or T fans? Or are they UK or UL fans. :D

You are not abetting federal criminals are you Rocky?? LOL. I guess it's like "Don't ask, don't tell." But you do know that it is your duty as an American citizen to report criminal behavior..

But what criminal behavior would I report? That they didn't clean the tub well enough, or deliver the spoon with the room service order? As far as I'm concerned, they're just my co-workers. If their documentation passes the scrutiny of our HR department, then why should I wonder?

If you knew for a fact someone was illegal, would you report it??
