It's an app I got on the iphone. I have a ton of songs on my iphone. You can set up a playlist to run too w headphones. I've got one of those arm sleeves it fits in. You run 3 times a week. It starts off with a 5 minute walk. During your song there will be a ding and it tells you to run. 1st week it's like 60 seconds. Then it dings after 60 secs and says walk (90 secs). Goes on doing that for around 20-30 minutes. Your 1st week that's what the workouts lke. The next week it goes to like 90 secs running 2 minute walk. It all gets progressive and builds your cardio up by doing intravel training. With the music it goes by pretty quick + keeps you disciplined. There's a time clock on the face of your phone too if you need to peek at your time. So far I love it! I've heard others that had a lot of success with it that's why I explored it.

Did you get the pro or the free version?

I've heard nothing but great things about Couch to 5K. I recommend it to everyone looking to get started running.
Tried the spaghetti squash this evening. Skipped the sauce and just seasoned it with salt and pepper. It was great! One squash makes a lot, too.
Did you nuke it as WR suggested?

Yeah, 1 squash makes a ton. The problem I'm having here if finding them now.

Yup. Mrs. S put each half face down into a corningware dish and covered it with cellophane down tight around the squash half. She nuked it for about 10 minutes, our old microwave isn't as powerful at 10 power as the new ones. Raked it out with a meat fork.

One advantage to living here. I can get most fresh fruits and vegetables pretty much year round. Disadvantage, if it doesn't slow down on the rain, I may have to swim to the market to get them.

Hit the 50 lb mark this morning. Still walking 5 miles a day. Given all the traveling, not getting to walk much while up in Indiana, and eating out as I had to, I'm surprised I didn't put some back on.

The bike has been out of commission for the last 2 weeks. I blew, I should say destroyed, the front tube. I'm fixing that this morning. Given my starting weight, I think I should have gotten a regular mountain bike, instead of a hybrid.

Good job. I'm just a couple of lbs from my goal. The weight loss has slowed due to the weight training. The inches and body fat loss is going well. I still struggle with nutrition though. If I strictly followed the diet, I'm sure I would have hit my target.

Fantastic. What are you doing for nutrition?

Funny thing is I now eat 5 times a day with not much concern for calories. I mainly watch fat and sugar intake. Lot of protein some carbs and veggies. I have one day a week, I can eat whatever I want.

Sample would be:

1. 3 egg omelet with only 1 yolk, and a carbmasters yogurt.

2. Plain Oatmeal, sometime with a few frozen blueberries in it. Have to watch the fruit with all of the sugar they contain.

3. 8 slices of deli turkey or chicken with 1 peice of low fat American cheese. Another yogurt

4. 6-8 oz. of meat, chicken breast, turkey, lean beef, veggies, salad a low fat raspberry vinaigrette. Mabe a slice of whole wheat.

5. low fat cottage cheese, or a protein shake.

Those are the 5 meals.

Snacks are:

Rice cake

Peanut butter

Protein shake or bar (found a brand that has only 2 or 3 grams of sugar)

Handful of almonds

I can drink:

Diet sodas

Black Coffee

water

fat free milk, not much as this also has 13 grams sugar

G2 gatorade, 8 oz.

Ran 16 this morning and now less than 60 days out from the Ironman competition. Did the run a mile walk a minute routine to switch it up a bit and my overall pace ended up being only 30 seconds per mile slower than my typical marathon pace. I highly recommend the Jeff Galloway method of running for starters or those not fully comfortable running.

60 days out, how comfortable are you at this point with where you are?

I cooked turkey meatballs in a homemade marinara sauce all day yesterday. Noticed the Valu Market had spaghetti squash so I picked one up and was quite pleased with how it turned out. Thanks guys.

P.S. Wow, it makes a TON of "noodles".
