The swim was canceled due to a heavy rip current. They wouldn't even allow small watercraft into the water so setting up the buoy's was impossible.

The training you are doing looks very doable. Thanks for sharing it.

It is doable, but it just wears on you. Nutrition and rest are key in all of this.

2 new developments this week. 1st, I broke the 5 mile mark on my walks. 2nd, a guy who works for my employer, does personal training as a second career. He recommended I add biking to my routine, so I added an 8 mile ride today. That proved to be more of a workout than I thought it would be. Of course, doing at 11:30 in the morning, in August, in Florida ain't exactly the brightest idea, either.

Also, I must have busted through a plateau. At the weigh in yesterday morning, I had dropped another 10 lbs. That makes 40 total.

That's awesome. Keep it up. What is your diet like?

Very cool, swamprat :thumb:

I took a nasty spill on Saturday on my bike. About 45 miles in and I took on a pot hole at around 20 mph. The pot hole won and it looked as if I was sliding in to second base head first for about 20 feet. Worst scrapes I have ever endured on my hands. About a quarter of my right palm is gone. Just a nuisance taking a shower and doing anything. Shoulder is really sore and I am going to the doctor later today. Bike was not in too bad of shape. Got everything repaired and ready to go.

First I want to say that I think what you all are doing with the Ironman/Triathalon training is great. I don't know if I could ever do something like that. I'm not much of an endurance athlete. I'm far more anaerobic than aerobic. So my current trainin goals are a little different than most people's on here. Mine are as follows...

15m Sprint: 2.10s

30m Sprint: 3.6s

Squat 3RM: 485lb

Power Clean: 350lb

Bench Press 1RM: 300lb

Deadlift 1RM: 565lb

Broad Jump 10'6"

I'm within striking distance of all of these.

I'm shooting from the hip really. I know I need protein, and some carbs, but I try to temper it.

- Breakfast: Peanut Butter on wheat bread and a banana or apple. Everyday. No variance beyond the fruit choices.

- Lunch: Normally broccoli, and or cauliflower, and or carrots, steamed, or whatever veggie was left over from the night before, and a small portion of any leftover meat, if any.

- Snack: Carrots or celery.

- Supper: I eat a small portion of meat. For example, if we are having ribs, I eat one rib. If we are having chicken, half a breast. The night we had your pork chop recipe at my daughter's place, I ate half a chop. I have little or none of any carbs prepared. No bread. If we are having stew or soup beans, where bread is a normal side, I'll steam some broccoli and eat that instead of the bread. When I or Mrs. S make something with pasta, like spaghetti, I'll steam up some veggies and sprinkle cheddar cheese over them for protein and eat that.

- Snack: Fresh fruit of some kind. Generally berries, but watermelon some. Could also have a peach or nectarine, if I find any good at the market.

No milk. No butter. Little or no pasta. No processed snacks. No soft drinks. No canned vegetables, fresh or frozen only. I eat fresh veggies for the most part.

Little or no alcohol. That includes beer , though I have had a couple of Mich Ultra's , when out with friends, and did go to a bourbon tasting a couple of weekends ago.

Those are impressive. Going for power over endurance.

That's why God invented Neosporin. Did you just have to replace the front rim or did it do damage to the frame?

Not bad overall. Your correct that you do need more protein. Don't know if you like fish but that would be one good health source for protein and omega 3. Chicken or turkey would also be good. You have definitely started down the right path.

Here's something to try when Mrs. S makes spaghetti...use ground turkey or chicken for the meat in the sauce. Pick up a spaghetti squash to replace the pasta. Cut the SS in half placing one half face down in a mircowave safe dish (I use corningware). Put a little water in the bottom and cover with plastic wrap. Nuke for about 8 mins. Take out and let cool a bit. When cool take a fork and scrape out the "meat" of the squash. It will shred and look like noodles. Put some on a plate and cover with meat sauce.

Very impressive. I am know where close to you on your lifts but making good progress for a little guy. I'm as light as I've been since high school and probably at my stongest too. My lower body definitely is.

Derailleur was a little out of whack as was the back brakes. No frame damage luckily.

It's good that neither you or your bike suffered any serious injuries.

Mrs. S is making her turkey balls (turkey meatloaf) tonight. Not a big fan of steamed fish, but this is a life style change. I'll try it. The spaghetti squash I've heard of, just haven't tried it, yet. Thanks for reminding me. I'll pick one up on the way home tonight. :thumb:

Grill it.

I usually take tilapia and sprinkle with Tony Chacere's, cumin, and red pepper flakes then grill. Once you remove from grill and while still hot squeeze some fresh lemon juice on it. It's very good.
