Christie throw his hat in the race. We still have to learn more about Gov Christie but I think it would make for a very interesting campaign season. That would be interesting. I have predicted for a while that Christie was aiming his sights for the next election though. Obama will be difficult to beat; but another 4 years of him in office may make his path to the White House much easier.
June 2, 201115 yr I could see Gov. Daniels, Gov. Christie, or Romney having a chance. Can't realistically see anyone else causing much of an issue for President Obama. On Christie I wholeheartedly agree. On Daniels, perhaps. On Romney, I don't think he stands a chance.
June 2, 201115 yr I seriously think the issue of him being Mormon will be a non factor. I am far right & would never vote for Romney, but it has nothing whatsoever to do with his religious beliefs. It has everything to do with his inconsistencies on issues when running for Governor in a liberal state & how those stances changed when seeking the nomination of a predominantly conservative party. I have a hard time believing a word the man says.
June 2, 201115 yr I think the grand majority of you on here will be suprised at the 2012 election as you seem to think Obama has it in the bag, and why not, what a great job he has done. I believe Obama has it in the bag for two primary reasons: 1) Since televised debates, America has always voted style over substance. Nobody beats Barry in style. 2) The Republican field is pathetically weak. I'll never vote for the President, but I'm having a hard time getting excited about any of these dolts the Republicans are throwing at us.

June 7, 201115 yr Mitt Romney has officially announced he is running for President in 2012. If memory serves me right, you're a Romney guy. If he were to get the nomination, what type of person do you see him selecting as a VP candidate? Ultra conservative (tea-partier)? Moderate?

Moderate? I don't know about a tea-partier, but I'd say it's a safe bet he'd go with someone the base of the conservatives would rally behind. Romney is a very good conservative choice when it comes to fiscal and economic policy, but his social leanings are pretty moderate for most conservatives. He'd need someone that appeals to the social conservatives, but that isn't an extremist IMO. Maybe a Jindal? Possibly a Huckabee (I'd loathe this decision), maybe Pawlenty, or maybe even Daniels.
June 9, 201115 yr You may say that Newt is done! His entire high command resigned. Although the voting public has a short memory, Newt sure carries a lot of baggage.

Too controlling of his schedule and would make him late for meetings with big donors so that she could freshen up. As someone noted you can't run for the R nomination AND be home for dinner every night (or choir practice in Newt's wife's case). In the end this is irrelevant. Newt had zero chance hauling all of that baggage on his back.
