54 touchdowns as a senior... holy cow

I don't even think that Leslie's offense scored that many TD's through the whole season

Imagine that he had 54 for the season... 3.6/game...

and had less than 100 yards and only 1 touchdown against us....

What a job by the DEFENSE...seriously about as impressive as the job we saw a couple of weeks ago....who else can say that they shut down the NFL's MVP. (foreshadowing if you will)

Awesome RockPride, but you are still at home on the couch huh?

I was at the game, and have the tape. T played a marvelous game, and did everything needed to win. But to say Alexander was "ordinary" was just as foul as what I said. As you know, I have a pretty good friend from that T team, so I hear about how good they were quite often...

I was there also. For all of the hype before the game about Alexander, I was not impressed AT THAT GAME. It was the only time I saw him play. He is truly a superstar now.

I would never compare myself to Shaun..

That had more to do with us, than him.

I was at every game that year and, well obviously now, the hype has been true. RP is dead on, it was more the D stopping him than him being overhyped.

Trinity did a very good job on Alexander that day. However, Hauck and company made little in game adjustments and it really hurt the Rebels. I think Meaney was under used at fullback and had some holes to run through. On defense Boone was either flipping their ends or outside linebackers depending on the formation and Trinity would quick snap before they could get set. Boone needed to just line up and play defense. Lampley (I belive he was the coach for Trinity) out coached Hauck by a large degree that day.

yeah and UK said he was too slow.

Not UK...Hal Mumme.

Perfect assesment of what I saw as well.

He certainly was no joke.

He still is no joke.

You could tell by watching him in highschool that he has natural talent and would do great thing in college and the NFL.

I look at the 1994 State Championship team as this....

1 - A team that was on a special run, with a tremendous coach, on his way out, with that, we were 100% prepared for that game IN EVERY ASPECT, even the fact that we did not have any doubt that we were going to win. And we did.

2- A tremendous Boone County team, who truly had not faced a defense like ours (disciplined) the entire season, and posessed the state's best player by far (granted LSURock, he didn't show that against us, as I would rather say we stopped him, then he just wasn't that good), and a team, that I am sure had some doubt that Boone County could finish....then they virtually spot us 7 (meaning that we ran the opening kickoff back), there was no doubt from that second on.

*never mind the fact that the ball "bounced" our way the entire game..

**also, if you ask any senior on that team, once we beat Central, we KNEW that we were state champs....that is a fact, and then, of course, X beat Male the next night, and everyone else knew as well.

Let me start by saying I have no doubt that Trinity has had some phenomenal football teams over the years.

The fact that they beat Boone County in 1994 is irrelevant as far as this discussion of Shaun Alexander goes. Yes, Trinity did have a great defense that year. However, this is proof that one game does not separate a good player from a great player. We all have to agree that Shaun Alexander is a great football player. His stats speak for them selves.

I will. Cassius Clay. But I don't think Shaun would mind being called the 2nd greatest athlete behind Ali.

It would be hard to argue anyone over Shaun for #2. No other player in the state has had such dominance in HS,College, and Pro's.

Kind of a foul ball for a guy with your knowledge. Johnson signed with UT but suffered some pretty bad injuries that cut short his career. If you would like to review the tape I could arrange it. Afterwards, maybe you would agree with me. The tape is of a NKY broadcast.

Could it be Trinity's defense was better, and Boone was the most pathetic passing team in 4A under Hauck.

Not yet, still Bill Curry era.
