Shaun Alexander at Boone County HS

Featured Replies

I don't think that Shaun was the leading rusher in 1992 when the Rebels played Boone County for the championship. As far as 1994, when we beat them he was averaging over 300+ yards on the ground and 4 touchdowns...we held him under 100 yards and 1 touchdown. He also threw an interception in that game. Man, that day, and season, sure were special.

Oh yeah...Boone always claims that "State-at-Large" thing....so no suprise there.

I have always wondered with the success he had in HS and in the NFL, what happened at Alabama?

He had a ton of rushing yards theere as well...

Boone has never won a state title.

Look at those numbers his senior year, unbelievable.

What's so special about 200+ ypg and 3 or 4 TD's per game... :D

'Bama used a rotation of about 3 backs, including Alexander, until his senior season. The other backs were solid, though I don't remember their names.

Shaun Alexander is their all-time leading rusher, me thinks.?

Alabama Larry could probably tell you for sure.

You are right. Alexander is the career rushing leader at Alabama with 3,565 yards. He also holds the single game rushing record with 291 yards on 20 atts.

One of the other two backs was also named Alexander as I recall. Curtis Alexander seems to ring a bell.

I think you're right.

Didn't they win the state in wrestling back in the early 80's? I'm not sure about that, but I was thinking they did.

Boone County won the state wrestling title in 1979.

Curtis Alexander is not listed on any of the career rushing records at Alabama. Dennis Riddle played from 94-97 overlapping Shaun 96 and 97. Riddle rushed for 2625 yards in his career at Alabama.

Shaun Alexander was not only the best football player in KY history but also the best athlete this state ever produced.

You are going to have a lot of people disagree with you on this one.

I will. Cassius Clay. But I don't think Shaun would mind being called the 2nd greatest athlete behind Ali.

He was SEC player of the year, and was a major candidate for the Heisman before he sprained his ankle and missed a game and Ron Dayne broke Ricky Williams record.
