3-24-11 Gas Prices on the rise?

Featured Replies

There will be a breaking point where people literally will only be able to afford to go to work and back. We are trying to get the economy to recover and this sure isn't going to help.

I don't get paid enough for this consitent rise in gas prices...and I'm not kidding. It's killing me.

It's killing a lot of people. The other part of this is the impact that it will indirectly have on your wallet at the grocery store. Diesel is at $3.90/gallon nationally. Add in the fact that freight and production has increased over this time last year, and the amount of Contract Carriers available has shrunk and a perfect storm is coming. Rates right now for spot market freight is priced at the same as it normally is during the summer. That means this summer will see record transportation costs, to move food that many claim is decreasing. Food prices are going to rise as well. The economy, in turn, will again start to sputter as people won't be able to take on these price hikes.

However, our Government will sit idly by and allow futures holders continue to raise the price of oil, we're at their mercy. I know why the won't, but how nice would it be if the Gov't would regulate futures so that only the end user could hold them? May not make a difference, but it may. It will be awesome to watch BP and all of the other companies break their quarterly records for profits.

I know. Thank God I lined up a summer job that I can walk to.

Paid 3.65 this morning in PRP in Louisville. I take the bus downtown three days a week so this isn't killing me, but it would be close if I had to drive out here every day.

I would bet the farm that is over $4 by Memorial Day and close to $5 by July 4th. By allowing gas prices to rise, this is the perfect outlet for Obama to push his "Green Bill" crap!

This is the change that he guaranteed us!!

How does President Obama allow the gas prices to rise?

I'll ask the same question. How did President Bush control the gas prices?

I was kidding and poking fun at all those people who said that back when he was President. :D

4 dollars = recession it would pull back then after the traders realized jobs will be cut and the housing market will sink further.

You're wrong. When it hits, the bubble won't burst, people's heads may spin, realizing that it's not going back to $1.25 but life will go on, and it won't start a recession because the gas demand isn't only increasing in the US.

Remember what happened a few years ago when it got above 4.00? It's not like our economy is fixed and thriving in its current state. The psychological factor alone will have americans penny pinching worse than they are now.

Not only is gas killing America but everything else is going up because of the gas price.
