A lot (and I mean a lot) of NFL players did not go to D1 colleges. Some are overlooked and some just mature physicaly and mentally later than others. So , I would not conisder a player that is not D1 , out of the race for Mr. Football.

My definition of D1 is a player who recieves an offer from a D1 college. However , it doesn't hurt your chances being a D1 offered player , but as far as I know , it is not a requirement and written in stone.

Has an O or D lineman ever been in the running for Mr. Football ? If not , then I think the position you play , has a lot to do with it.

As Henry posted , the size of the school makes little difference or no difference , in my opinion.

I don't like giving out individual awards for team sports , but thats just me. As I have seen in the past , if your in the running for Mr. Football , don't get injuried , it will knock you way down in the voting and you will have little chance of winning it.

All the players on the list are great players or they wouldn't be on the list . So , good luck to all of them !

I think Elliot's defensive stats will be the difference maker in the Mr. Football.

Im just curious, should the Mr Football go to the best player who has the best season or to the most hyped player? I see Pikes name up there at the top.Not knocking the kid, have never seen him in person but what did he do or his team that would put him in the conversation for Mr Football. If you look at his numbers there are several players that had the numbers or better than he had this past year.Towels is another story, He had a good year but leading his team to a state title makes him a legitament contender going in.

The only numbers Highlands and their coaches really care about is the numbers in the " home " and "visitors " spot on the scoreboard . Then throw in the " won " & "lost " record on top of that . Highlands coaches and anyone who follows highschool football know who the great players are without having to showcase their most talented players .

 

Individual numbers mean nothing to the Highlands football program and that's the way it should be.Tolwes will be the "main attraction " with a lot of McCoy sprinkled in , for seasoning. It will happen like that in every position on both O & D , that's where the "tradition" comes from.

 

The senior season hasn't even started yet and everyone in the country that follows highschool football knows about Pike and Towles , so there is no need to showcase their talent , they just need to focus on winning games .

 

Pike and Towles are fine players and I wish them both well , as far as Mr. Football goes , it could go to anyone , I personally don't care !

Ok, your right about that. I really started just listing the schools that had Mr. Football and ended up listing the players and then doing some comparing.

Wales from Louisville Central has to be in the running.

My guess is Pike or Towles. Elliott is very good and watched him from Pee Wee ball on up but Ryle lost way too many seniors for him to repeat his previous year's effort and with no viable candidate at the QB position it'll be tough.
