All District Teams Are Out

JOHN HARDIN!!

If you look at the Region 2 District 3 team, there are NO members whatsoever from John Hardin. Were they being boycotted? :irked:

They obviously had the unfair advantage of having a coach who had won a state title at a non-Louisville 4A school in the past. :walk:

They didn't have representation at the GLFCA All-Star game either. It's possible that they either haven't joined and didn't know to participate.

I know the process of voting first requires the head coach of a school to nominate his own players, then to show up to the GLFCA meeting and vote for the other players in his district (can't vote for your own players).

If John Hardin didn't nominate they wouldn't have any players and if they didn't show up to the voting meeting then all of their nominations are disqualified. I think the reasoning there is solid, a coach could skip the voting meeting and thus better his own players chances at first team by eliminating a vote for other players at the same position.

Can someone from John Hardin clarify this? Is Pete W's analogy correct?

PeteW is correct and there was no representation from JH at the meeting. I do not know if there has been a rep at any GLFCA meeting. They may not even be members. Regardless, there is good reason to require member schools to have representation at these meetings, especially the all-district meeting. Yes, you do nominate your own players but you cannot vote for any of your own players on the ballot. By not attending the meeting you would not be able to answer questions other coaches may have about one of your players when they decide on one player over another. I will say that this meeting did take place on the tuesday before the second round playoff game and this could have been a problem for JH to free up a coach to attend (?). Just a possibility. The meeting in Louisville and 35-45 minutes from JH after a practice and post practice coaches discussions are normal. Maybe the players and coaches could care less about the Greatrer Louisville Football Coaches Association and their all-district votes.

These teams are ALWAYS political picks.

Vic Anderson didn't play against many of the district teams, and coaches vote for who played best agains their team. Same story with Kramer, as I recall. Mattingly never had a shot for first team, the district is loaded at RB and as good as he is, he's second fiddle in X's RB core. Who won the kicker spot, Fangman? He was pretty good, too, you know, doesn't have Dougherty's leg, but didn't Dougherty's accuracy get challenged a little bit late? Whereas Fangman was celebrated for ice in his veins by a few coaches.

All in all, the only one that I think was pushed out that should have been a lock is Dougherty.

Fangman didn't make first team or honorable mention (a bit surprising, I thought, since he has made some pretty big kicks).

In response to other comments about the vote being politically motivated, Beaumont making 1st team at RB was NOT a political pick. I'd put him up against any player in the state at that position.

Where are the 2a/1a the paper only shows 4a/3a.

Fangman was just my guess before I looked.

Although I think that Vic is the better RB, Beaumont had better district play. I expected Beaumont to make 1st team.

Yea... wheres A, AA?

Does anybody know where I can find anything about the all region, and district teams of 3A at?

Well I really don't recall how good Eastern and Oldham's D-Tackles were, but I was surprised to see them picked ahead of Tony Klausing. Tony has been as solid as a ROCK (pun intended) this season.

Yeah these all-district teams are usually crap.

I would expect it to be a little more difficult to get the coaches together for the 1A-2A teams since they are a little more widely spread. Only a few of the local teams make the GLFCA meetings. I also hate to hear and see all the post selection "political" rantings. All of us see and hear how picks are often omitted at the collegiate and professional levels whether the sport be football, basketball, baseball, etc. Bottom line is not everyone can make it and very often some very deserving players get left off. Not always intentionally but by way of a player maybe not playing as well against one district team as another. To discount the teams that were selected is just a slap the players that WERE selected some of them very deserving as well. Even with St.X,Trinity, Bullitt East, and Male(?) not represented at the game , it was still a very talented contest.
