Desean Peterson

Some of you really need to give this kid a break and just be happy that he is trying to better himself, regardless of where it is.

You have no clue what's going on in this kids life and what he's been through the past 8 months at home.

I agree with you Walter.

However, how is the kid eligible to even play? None of my business but it makes you wonder. I hope he can get his life in order and finish HS strong. He is a great athlete.

The kid was enrolled at Dixie for 31 days. He was abscent 23 of those, and of the 8 he was there he left class and had someone pick him up, without telling any faculty, during school hours. HMMMMMMMMM!

Then you need to ask Dixie how he earned any credits. Like any school that has a kid come to them Holmes applies credits earned at the previous school. If Dixie gave him credits that he didn't deserve that's on Dixie.

Clyde, I've been up at Dixie for years now and know many faculty there. He wasn't attending school enough, hardly at all, to earn the credits to play. And, this is no shot personaly at Desean Peterson himself. Unless he, or anyone else in his situation was able to go through a summer school program, or get the credits online, it would be impossible for an athelete to play. As I said before, he was enrolled at Dixie, but wasn't attending school. This kid can play, and I really hope he makes the best he can out of this chance. We at Dixie just don't understand. Good luck to Desean.

Again, Holmes applied all credits Dixie gave him.

Should any kid who is not going to class or making the grades, really be playing any sports?

Which i'm told was zero.

I just reread all of the comments in this thread and Solomon and Wingman have changed their tune. Some were citing sources from Dixie's side talking about his GPA and so forth saying he was good to go and so on.

It looks like the kid participated with the Dixie kids this summer in a 7 on 7 league. Was that a team tourney? If so, it looks like Dixie had no issues with his eligibility.

Hopefully, the kid can get things turned around.

Dixie sent documentation showing credits earned.

I haven't changed any tune....reread my posts.

From what I heard Peterson was told he needed to go to summer school to be eligible to play at Dixie and earn enough credits. He did not go to summer school so not enough credits were earned. Of course I have no firsthand knowledge of this. That being said he did not participate with Dixie's 7 on 7 team. Now I think Pike and Cohorn were on a traveling 7 on 7 team and he might have played with them there but that is not school affiliated.

Did he actually play in the Holmes game last night? If he did good for him as I hate to see any High School athlete miss out on this opportunity. There are rules he had to meet and if he played then he must have met those rules.

Good question. There's nothing in the Enquirer or game recap on BGP about him playing.

He played, but was pretty much a non factor. He caught a couple of short passes, and had no big plays. He was matched up with Ryan Sowder most of the night, who kept him under wraps.

A lot of work....
