Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks

Featured Replies

They weren't winning a title with the team they had and they aren't winning one with his one either. It created buzz at MSG and it might have made them a little better' date=' but not much. Highly doubtful that they land Paul or D Williams. They also might give up 140 ppg because they have zero defense.[/quote']

Which is a pity. The '07 playoffs that featured a D'Antoni-led Suns and a Nelson-led Warriors is what got me interested in the NBA again after a long layoff. I can appreciate what makes a team like the Spurs so excellent, but I can never love them the way I loved those teams (especially the '07 Warriors).

Had the questionable suspensions not happened in the San Antonio series we may be having a different discussion :D

Now that this whole ordeal is over, would you please join me in singing...

Wilson Chandler was due a big raise anyway. You get Carmelo and you figure out what to do next. They weren't winning a title with Galo or Felton as 2nd and 3rd best players.

People can talk about the "hard cap" all they want, but the NBA is a star driven league. The teams over the cap are in by far the biggest markets. Do we really see the Lakers/Celtics/Knicks/Heat/Bulls/Mavs being gutted by a hard cap? How does that help the league? So what if Milwaukee/Utah/Cleveland/Minny complain? They aren't winning titles anyway.

Chris Paul to the Knicks will be the next thing, course that will be after they figure out this labor deal.

That's who I think they'll get but I believe that a smart team would get Deron Williams instead. CP3 is on his way to a short career from his injuries IMO.

If they get a franchise tag in the new CBA it could really change things.

I doubt it.

The CBA offers a ton of questions, but I'd be shocked if the players ever allow anything like the NFL's in the NBA. There are 22 starters for each team in the NFL and 5 in the NBA. That doesn't even mention that there is already a max can earn and there isn't in the NFL. There's just no way the players will agree to that IMO. Now if it's forced on them who knows, but my guess is it would go very bad for teams to do that. My feeling too is if that was a real possibilty Denver would have kept him or shopped him to other teams like Houston and Dallas for better offers or taken the Nets offer which was better.

I agree but the NBA players are really back against the wall in these negotiations.

NBA and NFL ownership make me sick. Maybe the players should create their own league and show the NBA who really runs the league.

I agree. I feel like this is the first time the owners have really figured out that the players are screwed because their earning potential is at best a decade and the owners or their families could own these teams forever. They know the players will eventually cave on some issues because they're broke. There is absoultely no reason a team in the NBA should be able to hold a player hostage just because they were lucky enough to draft them.

On some things. The big guys just aren't going to go for not making a bunch of money and not being able to be "free agents". There are plenty of guys that think they're big guys too so they'll keep that right IMO.

How much better does Melo really make them? Are they a contender now to win the title? They are still a player and then some away.

How deep will their rotation be? I read today they may try to get Camby(on a side note).

How will Denver utilize their rotation now??? Nene, K-Mart, Afflalo, Felton....

I'd guess Gallinari will get plenty of run. They like Lawson alot, I wouldn't be surprised if they move Felton in the off-season. Chandler can play to, I think JR Smith may get moved before the deadline because he came in.
