Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks

Featured Replies

Ever since Lebron and Bosh went to Miami, star players have wanted to play with other star players. The Knicks know have Fields, Amare, Melo and Billups. Now who do the Nuggets have? Ty Lawson? Nobody else of worthy notation.

It's probably always been like that. Magic and Bird lucked out with who they played for, and they kinds of players that were brought to those organizations. MJ lucked out because the Bulls weren't great the year he got hurt and they stole Pippen from the Sonics. Celtics were built on "teriitorial" drafts in the Russell Era. Barkley and Pippen ran to the Rockets to play with Hakeen and Drexler. Kobe was going to leave until the Lakeshow stole Gasol. Howard will leave Orlando. It's a never ending cycle.

While I think what LBJ, Wade and Bosh did was weak, most common era players either went to play with great players, demanded great players get picked up, or were drafted to teams with great players. What great players other than maybe David Robinson (Duncan was drafted at the end of his career) or Ewing don't fit this bill?

That's who I think they'll get but I believe that a smart team would get Deron Williams instead. CP3 is on his way to a short career from his injuries IMO.

Disagree. Paul is the best pg in the league with Rose being 2nd best. What separates Paul is he is unreal on the defensive end and this team would need defense in the worst way. I think his injuries will be fine and he would be too much of a talent to pass up if they had the opportunity. I don't think they get Paul or Williams either way though.

The only reason Duncan was drafted where he was is because Robinson was injured and the Spurs were terrible and got the top spot. Similar to the Jordan/Pippen scenario you talked of. Robinson was 1 year removed from being first team all NBA when they got Duncan.

The biggest difference between some of the older duos and trios you describe is the amount of teams today compared to then. There are a lot more really bad teams now.

Doctors say CP3 has bone on bone grinding in his knees. I'm as big of a CP3 fan as there is, but I don't think he's got much left. DWill is a much safer bet and owns CP3 head to head. Williams with some teammates would be tough to beat because there are few if any guards who can guard him and he's big enough to push any other guard around. Comparing Rose to CP3 or DWill isn't fair IMO, they're different kind of PGs. JMO.

I'll give you that there are more bad teams, but I think that is a result of more teams in the league and more overall talent in the league.
