Ryan Widmer Verdict

Featured Replies

I will say this and it's a general statement as I had never even heard of Ryan Widmer until this thread was started.

I don't have a problem with trying someone 10 times if that is what the law allows. And if it's not unanimous one way or the other then that is what the law should allow. That said, after the first trial there should be an automatic change of venue for the next trial. And again if there is a third trial. It's obvious there is no way they could find a jury that hadn't been influenced one way or the other. Like I said I have never even heard of this case until now so how hard would it be to move it to another part of the state.

I was completely shocked that all three trials were tried in Warren County. Defense counsel filed a motion to change venues, if I remember correctly, but it was denied.

This trial is turning out to be a three ring circus. Now we will be looking at another trial due to juror misconduct, again?? Are you kidding me? This judge made a huge mistake not to sequester this jury. I am starting to believe that people want to be on this jury for their 5 minutes of fame.

I can't believe how many people have gotten sucked into this story.

Actually for the third trial the prosecution filed for a change of venue not the defense. The change of venue was denied because,,,,get this,,,,,,, the State is not guaranteed a fair trial, only the defendant is guaranteed a fair trial.

Apparently the defense has 30 days to sequester all of the jurors communications on email, facebook, myspace, etc that occurred durinf the trial. They will likely find jury misconduct and there will be a 4th trial and they will request it be held far away from Warren Co.

And who pays for all of this time that will be spent gathering this information?

Probably a dumb question but I assume this is Warren Co, OH?

Tax payers of Warren Co.

The jury messed up! They are making comments that will lead to yet another trial, I think this time there will be a change of venue.

Comments? Such as?

Comments? Such as?

“It’s just the evidence, to us, did not prove innocence.”

“The fact that we couldn’t hear Ryan’s side of the story was bad,”

“We think something happened and he just snapped,"

This next part isn't a quote, but to me it's very disturbing:

Some jurors say they thought he drowned her in the toilet of their Hamilton Township home, even though prosecutors alleged Widmer’s wife was drowned in the bathtub...

I don't want a jury guessing and convicting believing something happened that the prosecution never even mentioned. These jurors are idiots.

When Jurors make comments like this, then they should be ordered to pay back the money they received, plus be charged for the meals and any lodging they received! Is THIS all they could find in Warren Co?
